A Guide to Interning Abroad in Paris
Internships in Paris
Finding an internship in Paris should be difficult because you can literally complete an internship in nearly any field. Beginning with business: Paris is host to 30 Fortune 500 companies, is continually ranked in the top five globally connected cities, and has one of the largest GDPs in the world. If you are interested in international business, marketing, communications, law, media, or any combination thereof, then it is likely that you will come across quite a few fruitful internships in Paris.
Moving on to the arts: Paris is considered a fashion capital of the world, is home to the world’s most visited museum (the Louvre), and has inspired some of the greatest minds in the history of literature, philosophy, and academia. The food is pretty good as well. So if you are seeking cultural or professional refinement in any of these fields (or perhaps all of them), then an internship in Paris should be considered as the world’s premier destination for you.
Paris is a city of immense global opportunity, a place where international interns can undoubtedly go as far in their own two feet will take them. Though, it is understandably competitive to land an internship in Paris. Intern abroad program providers in Paris can help tremendously in this process. Many companies and organizations differ in their baseline requisites, but most expect interns to speak at least some French and commit to working in Paris for anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
Life in Paris
Since Paris is such a large and diverse city, interns can quite literally live any sort of lifestyle they desire. There is an infinite depth of cultural activity to draw upon – museums, theaters, historical monuments, libraries, concert and sporting venues, cafes and restaurants, bars and clubs – the list goes on and on. Many of the latter establishments are considered to be world-class in nature, and all exude a distinctly Parisian essence.
Some of the city’s main tourist attractions are the Champs-Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, and (of course) the Eiffel Tower. These are all certainly worth a visit, but eventually you will want to delve deeper into the rich underbelly of Paris while interning abroad. Take advantage of the city’s extensive metro system to explore a lot of different neighborhoods, and make an effort to befriend locals that know cool offbeat spots during your internship in Paris.
It would be ideal to speak at least conversational French before interning in Paris. Beyond the basic language requirements that many internships will screen for (French being the language of business in Paris), speaking the local tongue will help you greatly throughout everyday conversations and transactions.
Despite having earned somewhat of a cold reputation, most locals are actually happy to interact with foreigners, but may simply be turned off when you try to speak to them in only English. Knowing the French language is the key to tapping into the real Paris during your internship in France.
Salary & Costs
Paris is one of the most expensive cities in the world (sorry to be the bearer of bad news), but higher expenses comes with the opportunity to intern in an international powerhouse and one of the most visited cities on the planet. Like any major city in the world, it is still possible to live cheaply if you focus on budgeting and finding cheaper options. While interning in Paris, try to eat and shop away from the major tourist areas; be aware that, generally, housing prices tend to cheapen the further you move from the center of the city.
It is definitely possible to earn a decent enough salary through an internship in Paris, depending on your field of placement. Many internships in Paris are unpaid and instead are subject to program fees, which generally include some part of the costs of transportation, housing, and meals. However, there are also openings which offer a paid salary or at least living stipend. Take your time when researching different internships in Paris to find the right one which matches your financial needs.
Accommodation & Visas
Interns in Paris will likely be able to choose from a variety of living options, including homestays and apartment living. Homestays are a great way to become close with a French family and enter intimately into the Parisian culture. Apartment living will provide international interns with a more autonomous lifestyle, though internship program providers and employers will usually help organize apartments for interns.
You will also likely need to obtain an employment visa to live and work as an intern in Paris. It is a fairly simple application process and will often be facilitated by the company in which you will be working. Interns should allot themselves plenty of time when applying for a visa (check out GoAbroad’s Embassy Directory to find a French embassy or consulate in your home country to find out more information).
Benefits & Challenges
There are few more desirable locations on the face of the earth in which to live and work than Paris. Throughout history it has been a pressure cooker to revolutionizing ideas in art, culture, and society. Today one of the most globally connected cities on earth, it is hard to imagine a more enriching and rewarding place to begin developing your own international career prospects.
Intern abroad in Paris and fall in love with the City of Lights itself, in all its splendor.

Eye-opening, challenging, and worth every minute.
August 18, 2026by: Hiba Lazhar - MoroccoThis internship was truly eye-opening. It was my first time in a real workplace, and it pushed me completely out of my comfort zone — from the language barrier to adapting to a professional environment for the first time. I got to apply finance in a hands-on way that no classroom could ever teach, working on real projects with real businesses. Beyond the technical skills, I learned so much about myself: how I handle pressure, how I show up professionally, and just how seriously I take my work when it matters. It was challenging in the best way, and it genuinely shaped how I see my future career path. If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat.

Absolute Paris 2026
August 05, 2026by: Cat Amy - United StatesI was in Paris with Absolute summer 2026. I found the program coordinators super attentive and helpful. I watched them jump in when other students were sick or upset or having logistical issues with traveling. The housing was fine, clean and safe but a little small with very little storage. There were several opportunities to go on weekend or day trips and explore the city with coordinators. The internships I heard about and that I had were fine, no one had a terrible experience. But you definitely will be working full time, it’s very rare to get a day off outside of weekends.
An Amazing 6 Weeks in Paris
August 04, 2026by: Anna Buchert - United StatesCompleting an internship through Absolute Internship was an amazing experience! Not only did I get to go to a bakery and see the Eiffel Tower every day, but I got to experience Paris in a way that I would not have been able to do by myself. Being able to truly experience Paris by being a member of the working society, taking my daily commutes, and hanging out in "local" spots was unmatched. Absolute did a great job supporting me throughout the whole process, from the placement to the on-site experience.
Best experience ever!
August 04, 2026by: Ava Drvenkar - United StatesAs a student at San Diego State University, I had an incredible experience with Absolute Internship. They placed me at a business law firm in Paris, where I got to do real substantive work, legal research, translation, contract analysis, and document drafting, rather than just fetching coffee. The program handled the logistics seamlessly, so I could focus on making the most of the experience. Living and working in Paris pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me a genuine sense of what it’s like to practice law internationally. I’d recommend Absolute Internship to any student looking to gain real professional experience abroad.
Best summer ever!
July 23, 2026by: Izzy Wheaton - United StatesI absolutely loved everything Absolute Internship had to offer. I met some amazing people, loved my roommate, and had the opportunity to travel to Bordeaux, Giverny, Normandy, and several other destinations through organized day trips. The program was very well organized, while still giving us plenty of free time to explore the city and travel independently. I had a great experience at my internship, learned a lot, and gained valuable insight into working in a different country and culture. Culture shock is definitely real and can sometimes be noticeable in the workplace, so I would recommend researching the country and its work culture before choosing your destination. However, all of the Program Coordinators were incredibly kind, supportive, and helpful throughout the experience. I also loved having the opportunity to participate as an Absolute Creator and share content from my time abroad. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience, and I am so grateful for all of the memories, friendships, and professional growth it gave me!
Intern Abroad in Paris: Oui or Non?
March 24, 2026by: Lauren Hosni - United StatesInterning abroad in Paris was an unforgettable experience that I will never forget. The culture is filled with so much art, history, and romance. I will miss the simple things like getting a croissant on my way to work from a boulangerie, which is "bakery" in French. After work I would walk to the Canal Saint-Martin and meet up with my roommates to explore boutiques and cafes. At night, the city of Paris was so alive. Watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle on the hour once it got dark was so magical. I learned so much about international business and cultural etiquette. Paris is the perfect place to gain real-world experience while being fully immersed in yourself through a unique way of life. Paris was my dream come true!

Amazing Summer 2025 in Amsterdam!
January 17, 2026by: Lily Xu - United StatesI am so incredibly grateful for the amazing experience I had abroad last summer in Amsterdam! Through Sage Corps I was able to work as a data analysis intern for a startup in the area, where I not only gained professional experience, but got to work on a project in machine learning for the first time, which was something I was interested in. The highlight of my summer was definitely all of the wonderful friends I made that were in my program. I had so much fun being able to connect with so many great people, and it taught me the value of saying yes to everything. We traveled and explored together, and even though I was working a 40-hour week, I definitely felt like I was able to create those meaningful relationships and try out so many new things. Wouldn't trade the experience for anything. I really had a fantastic time and would definitely encourage anyone on the edge of studying abroad to go for it, even if outside your comfort zone. I loved Amsterdam and the Netherlands because everyone was so kind and the environment was so laid back, but being able to travel to other parts of Europe was thrilling and new for me, and I really enjoyed being able to take in different cultures. Highly recommend!

The Summer of a Lifetime in Amsterdam!!
November 22, 2025by: haley lorch - United StatesI got the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Amsterdam in the summer of 2025, and it was truly a life-changing experience. Sage Corps is such a unique program because it allows you to study abroad while also getting real-world experience by working with businesses in your host country. I was able to fully immerse myself in Amsterdam’s culture, explore the city during my free time, and simultaneously grow my business skills through my internship at a startup. I can’t recommend this program enough for anyone who wants to truly live in another city and experience it on a deeper level. Working and commuting in Amsterdam every day gave me a completely new perspective on the city, and I absolutely loved it. Beyond the professional and personal growth, I also made so many amazing friends—many of whom I still talk to regularly! If you’re even slightly considering this program… DO IT!! You’ll have the summer of your dreams, make unforgettable memories, and leave with a piece of the city in your heart forever.

Great Experience and Wonderful Memories!
October 21, 2025by: Keyan Vojdani - United StatesInterning with Sage Corps in Lisbon last summer was a wonderful opportunity. From start to finish, everything was organized, supportive, and truly transformative. The team made the entire process seamless, from matching me with a startup that aligned with my interests to helping me adjust to a new city and culture. My internship gave me real, hands-on experience in a fast-paced startup environment. I worked on meaningful business development projects that made an impact and collaborated with founders and teams who trusted me with real responsibility. It was exciting, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. Sage Corps is an amazing program that combines hands-on startup experience with full cultural immersion. Living and working abroad taught me how to adapt quickly, communicate across cultures, and think more creatively. Along the way, I met an inspiring community of international students, mentors, and entrepreneurs who made the experience even more meaningful. I would highly recommend the program.
Great support and opportunities while abroad!
October 02, 2025by: Talia Scott - United StatesSage Corps did an awesome job of supporting my experience throughout the whole process. There were multiple onboarding meetings before the summer started that gave a lot of help in preparing me for my time in Spain. While I was there, the cultural activities that were included in the program were a huge highlight. We had a tour of the Gothic quarter, wine-tasting, paella making, and several traditional Spanish dinners. Additionally, my city managers were so helpful for any questions or recommendations we needed about Barcelona. Sage Corps also provides a lot of support with your internship from the interview process all the way through, making sure you have what you need to succeed!
Hands-On Startup Experience Abroad
September 27, 2025by: Zaira Gell - United StatesDuring my placement in Madrid, I worked on a range of research, data, and design tasks. This allowed me to contribute to the work of a growing company while learning how startups operate in a global context. You will learn to adapt fast and will be immersed in a culture other than your own, where you will grow. Sage Corps is an amazing program that pairs hands-on startup experience with global immersion. You won't be observing other people's work; you will be at the forefront of many of the company's projects from day one. You will learn so much about yourself and about how the world works. You will build a network of international peers and mentors. You will learn to adapt fast and will be immersed in a culture other than your own, where you will grow. I recommend it because experiences abroad will accelerate your personal growth, and an internship with a startup with accelerate your professional growth.
Best Summer Ever!
September 24, 2025by: Sarah Sepahdari - United StatesSage Corps was a great experience all around! The program managers and city managers were incredibly helpful and super easy to reach, and created thoughtful events that helped us connect with the city. The housing was also very clean and safe.
