You might have been thinking of volunteering somewhere in the world, but don't know where to go yet. Would you like to visit a place with great biodiversity; a place with unique wildlife? A country with an awesome people and great history? And you want to experience all this while doing something good for somebody else? Then you need to volunteer in Madagascar! Madagascar is an island country in the Indian Ocean and is located off the coast of Southeast Africa. Its long isolation from neighboring continents has resulted in unique plants, animals, and natives that can be found nowhere else in the world. However, the long isolation has also contributed to an overall lack of development and modernization in Madagascar. Around 80% of the population lives in poverty without access to running water or reliable electricity and Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in Africa. There are many social projects working towards improvements in various areas. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind experience, volunteer in Madagascar!
