HIV/Aids Support in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

This program has a profound effect on children living with HIV/AIDS or who have been orphaned by this devastating disease, resulting in hardships and discrimination in their everyday lives. Volunteers help provide a safe environment that supports and educates these kids and communities about HIV/AIDS. They make a huge difference to vulnerable youth and children, many with no family and who feel disillusioned, by educating them on the disease, how to prevent it, what it may mean for those with the disease, and how they can go on to live fulfilling lives. Projects reach children through school-based clubs and the youth through out-of-school sporting activities. With soccer considered one of Africa's biggest sports and a vast majority of young people following it, it's used to bring together these youths. The program has supported more than 600 children and youth and intends to increase this number. This volunteer program makes a lasting, positive impact on the lives of local young Zimbabweans facing unimaginable challenges.

Best Volunteer Programs in Zimbabwe

Between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers, Zimbabwe is renowned for its great natural beauty. Go, see one of the world's biggest and most spectacular waterfalls, Victoria Falls, or why not explore the savannah or the mountainous Eastern Highlands? Zimbabwe has unique, ruined ancient cities, making it an interesting destination. However, poverty, hunger, deforestation, and poaching are big challenges facing the country. Thus, there is a real need for volunteers like you to work on various projects. These projects require different skills and abilities. General requirements include the following: - At least 18 years old for most of the volunteer projects. When in doubt, we advise you to contact the local project manager. - You should have an intermediate level of English skills; some projects also require advanced proficiency. - Depending on the project you're interested in, you might need to provide a criminal background check and a health declaration before volunteering.

From the start to finish, I felt supported from all the staff. Safety was a priority in South Africa and they ensured that these were remembered whilst we went out and enjoyed ourselves! The school was absolutely amazing and I loved the class and teachers I worked with. After programme, we had so much time to go and explore the local area of muizenburg and even head into the city of Cape Town to explore. It was importantly to follow the house rules as they kept you safe however I never felt as though the rules were restrictive and were very thought out to ensure safety to all volunteers. I wish I did longer than the 3 weeks and can’t wait to go back, I would recommend this trip to anyone and believe the process is so easy to do
