Volunteer Mentoring Young Writers in Belfast

Fighting Words NI is a creative writing center based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, dedicated to inspiring children and young people aged 6-18 through the power of storytelling. Since 2015, we've offered free creative writing workshops, Write Clubs, and special projects, all supported by our passionate team of volunteer mentors. Our mission is to ignite imaginations and foster a love for writing in a fun, inclusive environment. As a volunteer mentor, you'll play a vital role in guiding and encouraging young writers during our workshops. Whether you're a student, retiree, writer, teacher, artist, or simply someone who enjoys working with young people, your unique perspective is invaluable. No prior teaching or writing experience is required—just a passion for creativity and a willingness to listen and support. Our workshops typically last two hours, with an additional half-hour for preparation and wrap-up. We offer both in-person sessions at our creative space in Connswater Shopping Centre, East Belfast, and online workshops via Zoom, providing flexibility to fit your schedule.
