Find out why more and more people are choosing to become a Love Volunteer! Love Volunteers is the most affordable way to volunteer and help local communities in developing countries! Why are we cheaper than other organisations? Firstly, we are just a handful of passionate people working hard to help volunteers and local communities around the world. We don't have huge overheads - no company cars, no downtown office - we're just volunteers who knew we could do a better job. Secondly, we work with local organisations wherever we can to keep administration costs to a minimum and also to feed as much money and skills into the local communities where we operate. All of Love Volunteers partner organisations have been fully vetted to ensure that, not only does a genuine need for assistance exist, but that the environments that we place our volunteers are safe and of high quality. Choose from one or more of our 200+ amazing community-based programs in 37 developing countries around the world. Every program has been personally visited by one of our dedicated staff members and is regularly audited to ensure it meets our high standards in terms of safety, sustainability, and local impact.

Africa’s Gold Coast is the perfect destination to volunteer for teaching programs. You will assist in helping young students increase their confidence in working with numbers, words and computers. GVI volunteers will be providing schools in and around Accra with the manpower they need to allow each child access to more personalised instruction in subjects like English, Mathematics and Computer Literacy. The cosmopolitan city of Accra is yours to explore in your free time, make use of this unique opportunity to shop for local handicrafts at one of the many markets and experience the uniquely Ghanaian flavours of fufu and peanut soup.

Volunteering in construction projects is challenging. Volunteers will engage in construction activities such as digging, plastering, block shaping, brick molding, concrete mixing, steel bending, wiring, chiseling, mixing sand and cement, brick laying, carrying bricks, fetching water, and painting school buildings. They will be led and work together with local skilled craftsmen/artisans who will be providing free labor for the improvement of their communities. Volunteers work with locals to ensure these projects are completed and meet the needs of the people they are benefiting. You may find that the way you are used to working on building projects back home can be different from this experience; the materials used are often a bit simpler, and there can be limited tools for construction. Additionally, work schedules are not always the same as you might imagine them to be in your country, so get ready to test your cross-cultural knowledge. Perfect for short-term volunteering, this program doesn’t require skills. Make a meaningful impact, even within a week. Make sure to bring gloves, a flashlight, sun protection (such as a scarf or hat), insect repellent, boots, and water bottles.

As a volunteer in our school project, you will teach children aged 3–15 at Yikene Primary School in Bolga. Volunteers may choose from English Language, Arithmetic, or ICT—our most popular subjects. You will work under the supervision of a trained teacher, with class sizes ranging from 20 to 35 students. We encourage volunteers to bring creativity to make lessons lively and engaging. Through this project, you will learn how to relate with school children, manage a class, understand how lessons are conducted in Ghana, and carry out class assessments. Volunteers who arrive during the school term will experience regular class sessions, while those who join during vacation will support our extra classes held during the summer programme. We provide guidance to help volunteers adapt, especially those facing language barriers or challenges in class control. By the end of your placement, you will have imparted valuable knowledge and built meaningful one-on-one connections with the children. Roles: Prepare lesson notes, conduct exercises and assignments, set class rules, ensure discipline, and manage classroom challenges.

Join this volunteer program abroad and work with a local group in Ho, the capital of the Volta region. Projects include supporting rural communities through various objectives. You could also help build school blocks for kindergartens as well as improve washrooms and facilities in schools. Other activities include assisting with the construction of water systems and improving the facilities of a local orphanage. Efforts in Ghana have a great deal of support in the local communities, and volunteers will be cherished and appreciated as they help the people of Ho, and of Ghana, on projects that are important to them. At the same time, see and experience their culture in a way that few rarely ever do.

Volunteering as a family is a life-changing experience. It is a unique way to spend time with your loved ones while immersing yourself in the local culture and language and making a positive impact on the local community you are in. Our Generation Voluntary Organisation offers incredibly safe, enriching, international volunteering opportunities for families. All of our programs include planning and support, safe travel and accommodations, meaningful volunteer service, genuine opportunities for cultural immersion, and instruction in the local language. We welcome children from four and upwards on our family projects, although on specific projects, the age might be a little older. When you make international volunteering a family activity, you give your kids access to a world way beyond what they see every day. They become immersed in a new culture and learn the value of personal responsibility and commitment. The whole family is brought closer together as they expand their horizons and become global citizens. If you are traveling with 10 or more people, one family member goes free.
