Volunteering in construction projects is challenging. Volunteers will engage in construction activities such as digging, plastering, block shaping, brick molding, concrete mixing, steel bending, wiring, chiseling, mixing sand and cement, brick laying, carrying bricks, fetching water, and painting school buildings. They will be led and work together with local skilled craftsmen/artisans who will be providing free labor for the improvement of their communities. Volunteers work with locals to ensure these projects are completed and meet the needs of the people they are benefiting. You may find that the way you are used to working on building projects back home can be different from this experience; the materials used are often a bit simpler, and there can be limited tools for construction. Construction of the school
April 19, 2025by: Stephan Tritten - SwitzerlandProgram: Construction Volunteering Opportunities in GhanaI had the chance to spend some time in 2021 with Seth, Naomi and the children. That was a beautiful experience that i would highly recommend to anyone. I have participated in construction, in building some walls of new classrooms of the school.
Dear Stephane, Thank you so much for taking out the time to write us positive feedback. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your time in Ghana, loved your host family and your volunteer program. Thank you again for volunteering with us and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Thank you for recommending us! Kindest regards, SMWEF Team

the best descision I could've made!
January 04, 2025by: Sophia Valentina Pieper - GermanyProgram: Construction Volunteering Opportunities in GhanaThe St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation is a very heartwarming project. I was there for a month, and it clearly had an impact on how I see life. The kids are full of joy, and everybody is just spreading love and energy. One day after I arrived, the kids already started shouting my name when I passed by and wanted me to wave or just say „hi“. But not only the kids, also the teachers were wonderful! Even though the teaching in Ghana is rougher than where I am from, the love within the teaching is undoubted. The kids love the teachers, and so do the teachers love the kids! Events like running competitions, quizzes, or just dancing and making music are making it visible how much of a family the whole project is. Nevertheless, it is obvious that the project needs all of the help it can get. The project does not have enough money at all. The hosts have to skip meals, teachers can’t get paid regularly, the few books they have are not up to date, workbooks have to be written and drawn by the teachers, and the whole project relies on donations. And even though the hosts are struggling, they do everything they can to make it the best experience for the volunteers. If there had been a problem, I easily could have told Seth and Naomi (the host family). I think what describes the bonding between the couple and their volunteers the best is that they remember every single volunteer. Their name, where they are from, and what they did in the project. Even after years and years of volunteers. If you really want to help to change something, this project is the perfect place. It's not about profit; it's about having an impact and changing something in the system. I worked in construction and helped in teaching, and I loved both so, so much. It doesn't matter in what kind of field you want to help; construction, teaching, social work, health care, sports stuff, and so on... I know that the St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation is going to make it the best experience that they could give you.
Dear Sophia, Thank you for your incredible review, Sophia! We're thrilled to her that your experience at the center in Ghana turned out to be so rewarding and transformative. It's wonderful to know that, despite a rocky start, you found the support and communication you needed once you arrived. We're delighted that you enjoyed learning and assisting with construction works and teaching English made such a positive impact on your language skills and overall experience. Your kind words about the construction and teaching program mean a lot to us. It's truly inspiring to hear that you left with not just new language and construction skills but also a deeper understanding of history, humanity, and resilience. Thank you for your recommendations! With kind regards from Ghana, SMWEF Tea,

My Best Volunteering Experience
October 21, 2024by: Amin Adoudou - FranceProgram: Construction Volunteering Opportunities in GhanaFrom the first day, their welcoming and warmth towards me have been nothing but clear. Whether it be guiding through Ghanaian culture or teaching construction, they have made more sacrifices than I can count to make sure their volunteers (including me) got a wonderful experience. Having been there 6 weeks, I got the opportunity to experience both construction and the children. Beyond academics, the environment there is better than anything you could imagine. Whilst life is simple, the community, rooted in brotherhood and love, made it pass so much quicker and enjoyable. Really, my time there zoomed through. I would like to also mention how amazing the impact of this project is. By proving food, education, and shelter to underprivileged kids in a rural setting, you really make a difference. Seth always likes to mention how volunteers are the backbone of the organization, and while this is true, none of this could have happened without his and Naomi’s endless dedication. If there is ANY project I could recommend for volunteers, this is the one if you want to make a true difference.
Dear Amin, Thank you very much for your kind words, dedication and leaving an amazing review of your experience in Ghana with SMWEF Ghana. We are very much happy to know that you had a wonderful time in Ghana. You really did a commendable job for the project especially helping with administrative works and the students would be thankful to you always for your unwavering support and cooperation! Thank you once again for sharing your experience with us. We look forward to having you back in the program soon again. Many thanks and kind regards! SMWEF Ghana Team
