Water Projects Volunteering in Dominican Republic

I enjoyed some of the activites , but not others. The rivre walk and the walk to the koppies was 10/10. No intrenet was challenging , so 7/10. Jane , Precious , Patrick and Lucas were 10/10. I woul recommend this project to anyone who needs a detox from Social media.

As a Social worker i often meet with clients to assess their needs, provide counseling, and develop individualized plans to address their challenges. This could involve sessions with individuals, families, or groups.

This volunteer experience was amazing! Not only was it meaningful to make change with eye exams, distribute food to local families, and paint a house; it was also so much fun! We were able to try local restaurants; and explore nearby villages & further away towns to participate in activities like paragliding or riding ATVs. I always felt safe, heard, and appreciated. I made new friends and deepened friendships I already had. I’m so excited to do it all again next year! Thank you 4North for the trip of a lifetime!

The 4 North Project is an amazing organization focused on improving the lives of others! My daughter and I spent 8 wonderful days working in the communities around Bani, DR. It was an experience of a lifetime! Matt is an amazing host; he provides the right mix of work and fun! He was always available prior to the trip and answered all of our questions. The guest house is very comfortable and safe with all the needed amenities. The volunteer work we did was both emotional and fulfilling! I highly recommend traveling with The 4 North Project!!

Matt was great and the mixture of fun things and giving back was perfect. We worked hard and also had a lot of fun. The people we met were great and the sights were incredible. I’d recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for more than just a resort stay with an all you can eat buffet. At times it was challenging but always worth it. Great for students, a group of friends, or anyone looking to see a beautiful country. The accommodations were safe felt safe and the staff was always helpful. Would love to go back.

Matt and 4North gave me an experience that I will never forget. We were able to give non-medical eye exams to 50-100 ppl and give away free eye glasses to the people. My favorite part of the entire trip was stopping at the calmodos in the city and villages and just interacting with the people. It was nice to just interact with the people and see them in their daily routine/life. This trip can be customized to any type group. Matt did an amazing making my trip extra special for me and my friend. I would do it all over again in a heart beat and can't wait to go back.

Our family, which includes 2 children (now teenagers) and two adults, have enjoyed the most positive experiences over the years, but the 4 North Dominican experience rates at the top. We have traveled around the world for enjoyment, but never have we been provided the type of opportunity like 4 North offered. The experience offered the perfect balance of fun and adventure while also providing a sense of accomplishment while working on the numerous service projects. Although the projects were obviously beneficial to the recipients, it was even more beneficial to us as it touched our souls deeply and was most rewarding to be able to help others in such a powerful and sustainable way. The service projects provided a sense of purpose—something bigger than oneself. We also enjoyed vacation like experience such as Dominican resort living in the most gorgeous tree house. Additionally we experienced great adventure like 4 wheeling, horse back riding on the ocean, and paragliding—just to name a few. Matt Gewirtz and his team were incredible hosts. The entire week was well planned out and there was never a dull moment. However, there was always the flexibility to change the itinerary based on the desires of the team. Matt is the most gracious host and a tremendous human being. Just listening to him share his various volunteer experiences around the world is inspiring. We feel honored to now call him a friend. The housing accommodations were fantastic—clean, air conditioning, comfortable, spacious, and included the necessities. The food was delicious and offered a great variety. Our family always felt safe and welcomed wherever we went. Although I didn’t necessarily like or understand why, the Dominican people treated us like royalty, going out of their way to make our stay a dream vacation. Our 16 year old son, who was a bit leery before we left said the trip changed his life. Our 18 year daughter said it was a trip of a lifetime and she hopes to return soon. I do not endorse many things, but this experience receives my full endorsement and I hope that everyone can share the experiences our family was fortunate to have. It was simply the BEST!!

I’ve always been a person who has been hesitant to leave his comfort zone, but I am so grateful that I did for this trip! In just 10 short days I learned so much about not just how a country not as fortunate as us runs, but I also learned a lot about myself. Matt and his team manage to put together a perfect program that can teach us the value in life with ways of education, sustainability, safety, and enjoyment. I would highly recommend this program to anybody who has been looking to take that chance. Anybody who has been looking to take that extra step. Because for me I’m glad I did.... it changed my life! I will definitely be back this time with more friends and more family! Thank you Matt!

It took less than 24 hours from when our plan landed in the Dominican for me to realize the trip I had been dreaming about for over a year was going to be even better than I had imagined. 12 hours after landing in the country I was jumping off a cliff and rising ATVs through the mountains. 24 hours after that I was inside a remote village working to provide eye care to 200+ individuals who, until Matt, we’re receiving care they could have never imagined. After watching the impact a simple gesture such as reading glasses could have on these individuals I realized I want to help people to such a degree that Matt does on a daily basis. This experience solidified that when I go to college in the fall I will be on the premed track with the ultimate goal of going back to places such as this in order to offer any care that I can. This trip and Matt himself truly changed my life and helped to create my future. Over the next week, we explored the country in ways such as rising horses on the beach, climbing through caves and spending the day at a beautiful Oceanside pool. Along with providing eye care to a village, we also distributed meals to 25 families funded by 4North as well as building a bathroom for a family who is living in conditions unimaginable to us. We ended each day with a dinner amongst my family, Matt and our two translators who were also fantastic. Matt enriched the trip as a whole and these dinner as well as many activities through the day ended in laughter due to him. This trip was life changing and I hope to one day do the kind of good for others that Matt does and he continues to do with the creation of the 4North project.

I had the most amazing week with BLUE. Disconnecting from my stressful life and being in nature with new people brought me more peace than ever. Meeting people in a different place who don’t live in the greatest of conditions but are so happy inspired me and made me feel so connected to the friends and peers I traveled with. I will never forget the fun I had and how full my heart was by the end of the trip to know that BLUE made such a difference for so many people!

I had the best time in my life during my trip with Blue Missions to Dominican Republic. I learned to be humble, to empathize with other's situations and to put in order the priorities in my life. As a teenager I valued a lot material things but after this trip I know my priorities are back where they should have been. I made connections with the community i will never forget and even if I though this trip was to help them, I feel I received much more from them than what i was capable to give them. I will recommend this trip to all my friends.

I feel as though words aren’t enough to describe what one week in the DR truly was for me, but I will try my best. For 7 days, immersed in simplicity, I was surrounded by over 20+ strangers that I’d never met, in a country I’d never been with little to no cell service. You would think I would feel scared or uneasy, but easily within the first few days that country became home and those strangers became family. It is there where i realized the beauty of the campo. A place free from social, cultural, economic and political barriers. A place where there is no room for superficial love, electronic distraction, meaningless conversations, anxieties, or loneliness. Instead it’s filled with community, kindness, friendliness, teamwork, laughter, music, dancing, bonding, bucket showers, mosquiteros, slapping down dominoes, living in the moment, real true love and a lot of hardworking people all trying to achieve one important goal. Blue missions truly figured out the secret to a perfect service trip.

I'm beyond glad that my first ever service trip was with BLUE Missions. Overall, it was a quite humbling and eye-opening experience. With my track record in community outreach, this type of mission was something I always wanted to participate in. Connecting with the community, locals, and volunteers/BLUE staff; helped me understand our greater purpose. Not to mention made the entire trip come full circle. The trip chaperones were very professional & enthusiastically lead the group day in, day out. The BLUE Staff/construction team demonstrated great camaraderie. By day three of the trip, I was convinced that I wanted to participate again. I can easily recommend a BLUE Missions trip to anyone I know. Excited to see what happens next year.

This trip was extremely eye opening and reminded me of how grateful I should be for everything that I have. I would love to intern in the future and be able to volunteer with BLUE more often. I felt truly moved by this experience and I only wish the best for BLUE's organization so that it can grow and more people can experience what I have.

I probably had one of the best experiences of my life in Natuwa for a month, feeding the many animals that live there, taking care of them, discovering a different way of life than mine, more minimalist and peaceful. Rodolfo is an extremely understanding man who cares about the well-being of his voluntarios. We had the chance to do several extra activities outside the centre, such as snorkeling near to Isla Tortuga, or swimming at night with bioluminescent planktons, which were dazzling. The workteam is really friendly and allows you to feel integrated quickly and easily. However, you have to expect to work hard sometimes, for example planting trees, doing work to maintain the infrastructure, but this is only a part of the day. outside the centre

Going in this trip for the second summer in a row was one Of the best decisions I have ever made. I made became really close with a bunch of girls I never thought I would become friends with. Also knowing that I was helping so many family’s get something we here take advantage of all of time made me feel amazing and like I was actually doing something.
