Venture to some of the world’s most exotic and intriguing regions, ranging from the turquoise waters of Panama, the lush jungles of Costa Rica, and the white-sand beaches of Belize. Shadowing doctors in the Bocas del Toro islands off the coast of Panama, we understand the barriers to medical access for remote indigenous communities. Engaging with a local organization, we participate in an exchange program, learning more about the lives of local Panamanians and sharing our own culture. Visiting a locally run coffee farm in the Costa Rican highlands, we learn the process behind the production of coffee. Rafting on Costa Rica’s exhilarating Pacuare River, the vibrancy of life in the jungle beckons us in the calls of toucans and howler monkeys. Partnering with local biologists on the Pacific Coast, we learn about the current issues facing conservation efforts Basking in the crystal clear waters of improbably white sand beaches, we take in the beauty of the Caribbean. Exploring the underwater life of the reefs of Belize, we gain insights into a world rarely witnessed earning our SCUBA certification and participating in a lionfish eradication project.

Costa Rica faces a significant challenge in caring for orphaned or abandoned domestic animals, including dogs, cats, and others. Sadly, these animals are often in poor health, suffering from unattended injuries and hunger. To provide care and love for these lonely and vulnerable animals, veterinary organisations and social projects have been established to help with the problem. These animal care projects rely heavily on volunteer efforts, and your contribution is both necessary and greatly appreciated. However, it’s important to note that this project can be physically demanding and is therefore best suited for true animal lovers. As an international volunteer, your responsibilities may include bathing and grooming the animals, providing basic obedience training, cleaning cages and kennels, feeding the animals, maintaining the project area, interacting with and hosting visitors, playing with and walking or exercising the animals, participating in medical treatments, spay/neuter programs, fundraising, outreach, and administration work, and helping with local education programs.

Green Life Volunteers is a registered non-profit organization or association in Costa Rica. We just earn enough to cover operational expenses, like payments for office space, employee services, and basic organizational costs. We work hard to provide volunteers with an amazing experience, with a lot of hours thrown into administration, logistics, phone calls, Skyping, emailing, and so forth. The minimal fee to cover the basic operational needs will be covered through the higher program fee required in the first week. We have excellent projects throughout Costa Rica, which are a result of many years of collaboration and research. The projects we collaborate with are in actual need of help and have experience working with volunteers. This guarantees that you will have a great time and an awesome experience. The projects are always run by local members of the community, non-profit, and with a benefit for people, nature, or animals. The guest families have been handpicked by local staff, and all of them have years of experience hosting foreigners and volunteers. They are always happy to welcome you, and they will be your family away from home.
