Each country offers a unique cultural experience unto itself, and each faces the challenge of reconciling urban expansion and industrialization with indigenous land rights, free movement of nomadic peoples, and equal access to resources. This semester, walk among ancient temples, traverse mountainous jungles, and explore the clear blue water of Thailand’s beaches. You’ll explore tradition, globalization, and human rights against the backdrop of two of Asia’s most complex nations. The Globalteer Cambodia Community Project is located in the town of Siem Reap, near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat. The program works with carefully selected independent partner projects in and around the city. Globalteer works with projects that provide free supplementary education programs, vocational training, and access to free healthcare and nutrition. We also work with projects that develop sustainable agricultural programs for their communities as well as with a specialist clean drinking water project that drills wells for some of the poorest villagers in the region and installs highly effective water filters to prevent the spread of often serious and sometimes fatal water-borne diseases. The program focuses on the poor and vulnerable, helping them and their families to establish long-term solutions to their needs through education, healthcare, nutrition, and income generation.

Inspire, Educate & Empower Communities Across the World Are you passionate about education and cross-cultural exchange? Do you dream of making a positive impact while traveling the world? With Volunteering Journeys’ English Teaching Programs Abroad, you can inspire young minds, build confidence, and open opportunities for children and adults across Peru, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and the Maldives. Whether you’re a student on a gap year, a certified teacher, or simply a fluent English speaker looking to make a difference, teaching abroad is one of the most rewarding ways to contribute to global education while immersing yourself in fascinating cultures. In many developing regions, English proficiency opens the door to education, employment, and better economic opportunities. However, limited resources and teacher shortages often leave students without access to quality English education. By joining Volunteering Journeys’ teaching programs, you’ll help bridge this gap. You’ll work in local schools, community centers, or after-school programs — improving English literacy, conversational confidence, and cultural awareness.

New Dream of Cambodian Children Organization (NDCCO) is a non-profit organization in Phneachey Village, on the outskirts of Siem Reap. NDCCO was founded in 2014 and was registered as an official NGO in 2018 with the government of Cambodia under number 2197. We provide free education, school meals, and community support to underprivileged children and families from our partner communities. We believe education is a key factor in the fight against poverty and that every child has the unalienable right to access quality basic education. NDCCO has an approach that emphasizes sustainable education. We work with the local village chief to target families in most need, offering them a place at the school. Most jobs in Siem Reap are in the hospitality services; thus, the ability to communicate in English is required to access employment. By providing free English lessons to underprivileged kids, we offer them greater employment opportunities. With the help of volunteers, we deliver lessons five days a week to over 230 kids from 6 to 17 years old.

We have a community development project in rural Cambodia where circular economy initiatives support a free education center for impoverished youth. We offer free classes to the community, as well as help them gain access to higher education and resources. Our school is supported by the production of recycled products & bamboo straws, an organic skincare line developed from our permaculture farm, and wellness retreats. We seek volunteers and interns to help us develop our educational curriculum for students, assist teachers, work on our organic farm, develop strategies for selling our programs, create sustainable systems in our eco-pool and eco-building projects, and work on sustainable leadership with our Environmental Initiatives Level Four class. There are many aspects of our program where we could use more hands. We like to develop a personalized mission for all volunteers and interns to maximize impact and create a clear mission that utilizes individuals' skills.
