You’ll earn up to 15 credits per semester through an internship placement and courses taken at our Global Education Center (GEC) in London. Courses are taught in English. AIFS Abroad Internship Program provides vital insight into a career field, experience in the global workplace, practical exposure to the demands of specific jobs, and the development of professional and personal skills. Placements are available in a wide range of companies and institutions in advertising, art, design, art history, fashion, international business, marketing/market research, media, journalism, politics and government, PR/communications, psychology, theater, and more. In addition to participating in the internship, students will take Contemporary British Culture and elective courses. Integrated Study Abroad Programs allow students to join current University of the Arts London undergrads for one term in the Autumn, one term to two terms in the Spring, or one full academic year. A transformative two-week summer programme for motivated students aged 15-18, built around the art of communication, storytelling, and public speaking. Through a blend of theory and practice, small-group collaboration, and personal coaching, participants learn to shape powerful ideas and deliver them with clarity, confidence, and presence. This journalism course will introduce students to London as a political nerve center and cultural hub not just of Great Britain, but of Europe and the international community at large. As part of the coursework, students will focus on one of four major topics as part of this unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of London’s people and politics. The course is aimed at (a) helping students to develop journalistic skills and multimedia storytelling techniques, and (b) enabling more advanced students to exercise those skills in a challenging new international environment. Students will also work on narrative long-form audio storytelling by working on a three-part podcast about a historical event in London. Students will report, write and produce the podcast with guidance from professors and the final product will be published in a digital magazine back in the U.S.
