Spend a semester or academic year in the charming, peaceful city of Salzburg, Austria, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 15 credits per semester through a variety of courses offered by Fairfield University. Courses are taught in English and German, with no previous German language study required. Salzburg is the ideal location for students who love the outdoors, with its easy access to mountains, meadows, and lakes of the Austrian Alps. Live in a university residence hall or an Austrian homestay. All students live in a single or double room shared with another AIFS Abroad student and have access to the kitchen for meal prep. You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities including: • Guided tours of the city and its many sites • A Mozart dinner concert • Horse-drawn sleigh rides • Visits to Austrian Christmas Markets • Austrian cooking classes • Tours of the Werfen Castle and Hellbrunn Palace • A 3-day trip to Vienna and a day trip to Innsbruck Optional excursions include a 3-day trip to Prague, Czech Republic, and a day trip to Munich, Germany. A 2-night tour of London, England is included for students on the AIFS Abroad Flight Package.

Located in the heart of Europe, Vienna is a city of almost 2 million inhabitants that has served as a bridge between a myriad of cultures. Home to an astounding number of legendary composers - from Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven to Brahms, Mahler, and Schoenberg - Vienna also maintains an incredible richness of musical culture to this day. Students can take courses in Music History, Music Theory, and Performance Studies, among others. They also have the chance to learn about Vienna culture and language.
