Join the research team at the Crocodile Research Coalition (CRC) to collect and analyze data, a critical step needed to protect the Placencia Lagoon as a wildlife sanctuary and gain government protection. Fellows conduct research on various species (including crocodiles and manatees) within local habitats and involve various community members to promote a local supervising task force for the lagoon. This is delivered 100% online and is limited to 20 Fellows. This fellowship involves wildlife research methodology, crocodile ecology and biology, parasitology research, and translational ecology. The Director of the CRC also promotes discussion of the challenges of wildlife conservation and management by utilizing her experience with local, national, and international regulatory organizations. After learning basic techniques for wildlife research and conservation, fellows are introduced and assigned to current research projects necessary to protect the lagoon. All fellows have the opportunity to earn 100 research hours for their veterinary medical college applications while making a significant impact on the protection of crocodiles and manatees in Belize.
