IGS has placed students in some of the world’s most exciting museums. Our internship placements typically fall into two categories: working on the floor or conducting research and marketing behind the scenes. Floor work includes assisting the docent in the setup and interpretation of current exhibits and galleries. This may include constructing backdrops and computer modeling. Once the exhibit is in place, you are asked to learn the history of the showcased items and share your knowledge with the visiting public. Behind-the-scenes work may include conducting original research on life histories or local historical events. This may include online research and library visits. Likewise, you may be asked to conduct interviews in the community and record knowledge that is in danger of being lost forever. Spend 12 inspiring weeks exploring Barcelona, Rome, and Paris—three of Europe’s most iconic cities. World Class Programs offers high school students the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Our summer program is designed for teens from all academic backgrounds who are excited about immersing themselves in Italian culture and lifestyle. This pre-college program offers various course study options, including Art History, Fine Arts, Philosophy, Photography, Architecture, Italian language, and Tuscan Cuisine. Students can choose a major course for daily focus (Monday to Friday) in the mornings for three hours. Then, they attend elective classes, each lasting two hours, three times a week in the afternoons. On weekends, they go on day trips around Italy to explore cultural differences from city to city. Locations vary yearly; previous participants have visited Cinque Terre, Siena, Pisa, and Venice!

Experience the French savoir-faire and the traditions of its makers with APA Paris: Gap Year. This 13-week program combines French language immersion, academics, and firsthand encounters to understand the cultural intricacies of French society. To set the linguistic foundation, students begin the term with a three-week intensive French language course with weekly 90-minute individual support sessions continuing thereafter. Once the group portion of the language class concludes, participants take three courses, each taught in French: - Business French: An Economy of Creation: Discovering the French Savoir-Faire - Art History: Painting, Sculpture in France in the 19th Century - Political Science: France Today Each course includes field trips and site visits such as hands-on workshops for artisan crafts (pastry chef, perfume, fashion), art history outing to Monet's gardens at Giverny, and lessons at Paris' many renowned museums. At the end of the program, students receive a transcript so that they may transfer credits towards an undergraduate degree. Cultural events and excursions and housing accommodations are included.

Based in an 18th-century chateau in Normandy, France, Creative Semester is a 9-week multidisciplinary program that helps you think and see like an artist, connect with your peers, and grow your creativity. Through shared projects, discussions about art and artists, and moments of reflection, you’ll discover the joy of creating in community. At the heart of the program is collaboration across disciplines including film, photography, writing, studio art, and ceramics. Build skills through workshops and collaborate on projects that blend ideas and mediums. Paint a mural, create a zine, shoot a documentary, or build and fly kites on the beach, the possibilities are as open as your imagination. Each day invites experimentation, connection, and reflection, drawing inspiration from the landscapes, culture, and creative spirit of Normandy. The program includes excursions including the D-Day Landing Sites, medieval Bayeux and Mont-Saint-Michel, a 7-day trip to Rouen, and a 5-day trip to Paris. It is taught entirely in English. After beginning your journey in Ireland for 8 weeks, you’ll head across the continent to explore Amsterdam, Berlin, Lyon, and finally Goult in Provence. Each stop brings its own unique flavor, giving you the ultimate European gap year experience. Where? Ireland: Belfast, Derry, North Coast, Dublin, Donegal UK & Europe: Amsterdam, Berlin, Lyon, Provence When? Start dates in February and September. The program has a set starting price of £10,000 for 8 weeks in Ireland, this includes living and working in Portrush with trips to Belfast, Derry and Donegal. The full 11-week program costs £18,000 and includes trips to Amsterdam, Berlin and Lyon and finishes with living in a medical French village in Provence. Every student has access to a £1,500 scholarship and there are payment plans available to suit the needs of each family.
