Gap Year Programs in Sigatoka,Fiji

Volunteers in the Teaching program assist teachers in rural public schools in the Sigatoka area of Fiji. In Fiji, children are taught English from a very young age, and exposure and interaction with fluent English speakers are invaluable in developing their communication skills. Volunteers will assist in a variety of classes from English, Science, and Math. Experience isn't necessary; however, experienced teachers will also be able to assist with lesson plans. Volunteers on the Teaching project will work from approximately 1.00 pm through to 4.00 pm during the school week (Monday to Friday), wherein mornings are used as preparation time. The placements are within primary schools, where volunteers teach children aged between 6 and 16 years. The IVHQ Fiji Teaching project is suited to volunteers who are both qualified as teachers or childcare providers or those interested in this field. Importantly, they need to enjoy spending time with children and enjoy the challenge of encouraging their learning.
