Volunteers on the Kindergarten project work in a rural school environment with children aged between 4 and 5 years old who are at the start of their education. Volunteers on this project are involved in informal teaching activities, as the children are more responsive to play learning than in a formal sense. Your classroom assistance will help grow their confidence and assist them with learning English, which will be invaluable for their future education. Volunteers are welcome to bring any tactile and creative ideas they have to the classroom, and discuss these ideas with the local team. Volunteers on the Kindergarten project work from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm during the school week (Monday to Friday) and have the afternoons free to prepare lesson plans for the following day. The Kindergarten project is ideal for participants who love working with children and are new to the world of volunteering, as all volunteers work alongside local placement staff who can guide volunteers in daily tasks and activities.

Come experience the beautiful islands of Fiji while contributing to an educational initiative to help the communities there become more self-sufficient. In this project, you will work with young children from all over the island at the local government-funded school. English is the official language of the school, but is often not the language spoken at home, resulting in a lack of confidence in their language skills. As a volunteer, you will have multiple purposes in the school: assist the teachers with their work load in planning and executing lessons and giving direct guidance to students in academic subjects such as English, math, and science. Give the students practice and experience conversing with a native English speaker in order to boost their confidence and get them to speak more. Prepare activities and lessons in physical education, music, and art - subjects which are included in the required curriculum, but are often overlooked. Qualifications for this program are: - Minimum age 18 years old - Police background check - Motivation to work with children - Good level of English - Ability to work well in a team

Journey to the far reaches of the Pacific Ocean where we immerse ourselves in the island lifestyles of Sumatra, Bali, and Fiji. Students will have the opportunity to assist in native mangrove and coral reef restoration, help restore age-old Bataknese houses in a Sumatran village, and gain insight into environmental sustainability and natural disaster relief. Before you will have finished the semester, you will have gained your SCUBA certification and challenged yourself on the waves with several surf classes.

One of the most developed economies in the Pacific, Fiji has a large amount of forest, mineral, and fish resources. Most of the islands were formed by volcanic activity which started millions of years ago! Fiji also has a several soft coral reefs, colorful fishes and is thus fantastic for scuba diving!
