Gap Year Programs in San Jose,Costa Rica

Most visitors to Costa Rica skip the capital and head straight to the beach, but for a gap year, cosmopolitan San Jose could be just right. Safer than most cities in the region and less densely populated, the tropical climate stays a bit more cool here than on the coast, so you’ll be comfortable all year round. Museums, historical sites, and food and handicraft markets will keep you busy. When you need to relax, enjoy one of the city’s beautiful, buzzing parks or hit the beach—they’re only a day trip away!

It’s part of the experience

Everything is part of the experience. Learning how to go with the flow is an essential part of staying here. I’ve made so many new friends, locally and from around the world. The workers are fantastic and super accommodating, as long as you’re reachable and communicating. I’ve enjoyed working with kids and every new day brings about something new to learn. I love my Spanish classes and we’ve been correcting things I learned in school and building off of it. I’m really excited for the rest of my time here. ¡Pura vida!
