The Madrid program is ideal for students who wish to immerse themselves in Spanish and European Studies in one of the world's great capitals. Madrid is a fascinating city and has a vibrant culture that provides the perfect setting for language or art history studies. Explore the Spanish language and the complexities of Spanish and contemporary European societies through a wide selection of academic courses and personal interaction with the host culture. This program offers two diverse academic areas: Intensive Language and Spanish and European Studies. Our intensive language approach allows you to complete up to two years of university foreign language coursework in only one semester. You have ample opportunity to practice your newly learned skills both inside and outside the classroom when you take Spanish Studies. You can also enroll in excellent classes in Art History, Spanish Cinema, History of Photography, and Drawing. These are all taught at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos Vicálvaro Campus, which is inviting, modern, and student-friendly. The campus provides a great learning and social atmosphere for USAC students.

Spend a semester or academic year in Granada, Spain, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 20 credits per semester through various courses at the University of Granada. Courses are taught in English or Spanish, depending on the program. Volunteer opportunities in a variety of areas are available to all students. At the end of the semester, you will receive a certificate of participation. Live in a Spanish homestay, an apartment, or a student residence (for an additional fee). Homestay students receive three meals daily, while residence students receive three meals from Monday through Saturday. Apartment students have access to a shared kitchen for meal preparation. Many travelers visiting Granada insist it's the must-see city in the country. With one of the clearest windows into Spain's unique historical symbiosis of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, the IES Abroad curriculum takes full advantage of Andalusia and all southern Spain has to offer, including cultural excursions. Two semesters of college-level Spanish are required to enroll in the Intermediate Program, and four semesters are required to enroll in the Advanced Program. Both Intermediate and Advanced students are required to take a Spanish language course alongside English-taught area studies courses. All majors are welcome to apply. Students can immerse themselves in the Spanish language and culture by living with a local family in a homestay, or meet other international and local students in a residence hall and Colegios Mayores.
