Your Liberal Arts program in Seville lasts a full semester and is designed for students from all academic backgrounds who have Spanish language skills. You will enroll in CIEE courses and host institution courses delivered in Spanish. Through coursework, field visits, and homestays, examine how politics, economics, culture, and geography shape cities and influence the lives of urban citizens. Meet with academics, officials, NGOs, and grassroots movements to see how urban citizens organize to envision, build, and create more just and sustainable cities. Focus on fieldwork methods and ethics while completing a comparative research project on a topic of your choice. This program offers the choice to do a minor in urban studies. This is a unique, tailor-made learning and living experience integrated with the academic quality of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Our customized programs are for institutions and agencies that want to provide groups of international students with an educational experience at a university of international excellence. Participants study on the main campus just outside the city or at a campus in central Barcelona. Individual programs are tailored by selecting from more than 100 elective subjects in English or Spanish across areas like Business, Communication, Medicine and Nursing, Law, Arts and Humanities, and Spanish and Catalan Language. Guarantee maximum flexibility! Programs are available all year round, with flexible timetables and no minimum duration. This program is perfect for students with intermediate-level or higher Spanish skills who seek an authentic and immersive experience. Away from the crowds of American students who opt for more popular destinations, like Barcelona or Madrid, with us, you will find yourself fully immersed in the Spanish language and culture of La Coruña, Spain. At the beginning of the semester, you can optionally take an intensive Spanish language course to help prepare you for the semester abroad. You can take classes in your field of interest at an accredited public Spanish university. Most classes are taught in Spanish alongside Spanish students. While some courses are offered in English, we highly recommend taking on the challenge of studying in Spanish. If you need additional Spanish practice before the semester starts, you may combine our Summer Spanish Immersion program with the semester or year abroad program. You will be issued an official transcript, and we can assist you with obtaining transfer credit at your home institution. Adding a customized internship at a Spanish company alongside your studies is possible.

Spend eight weeks earning six credits this summer while participating in significant environmental research in a distinct region of southern Spain! This STEM summer research program is based at the Andalusian Institute for Earth System Research (IISTA), one of Spain’s leading environmental research institutes, in cooperation with the University of Granada. Founded in 2011, the IISTA promotes scientific and technological knowledge, as well as development and innovation, in earth sciences and environmental development. This is a perfect opportunity for STEM students interested in physics, math, meteorology, and environmental science to conduct independent research, gain valuable experience for future opportunities, and stay on track for graduation. Conduct research at the renowned School of Medicine of the University of Granada, one of the leading schools in Spain. Located in a new building on the bio-science campus, equipped with innovative laboratories and well-trained staff, projects will be led by researchers in biochemistry, molecular biology, and forensic science.
