The Torino program is ideal for students who are interested in studying International Business, Art/Architecture, and Italian Studies in an exciting, cosmopolitan setting. Named the Youth Capital of Europe in 2010, Torino is an excellent location to study and practice the Italian language and experience Italy's rich culture away from crowded tourist areas. It is home to many prominent international companies, and this program provides an excellent opportunity to meet European students and business people in a leading center for European business and business education. Choose courses from three diverse academic areas: International Business, Architecture/Design/Art, and Italian Studies. The Torino program combines academic coursework with practical learning, tours, and field trips to create an integrated cultural experience. *Due to the global health status, USAC is making changes to summer, fall, and yearlong programs, and some options might not be available. These changes are posted on individual program pages on the USAC website.*

In line with the themes that characterize the knowledge and research of the territory, IED Turin offers a three-week program designed to make the curriculum more competitive and to enrich it with new skills. The Car Design summer course in July provides an introduction to basic elements and tools, contemporary trends, and industrial challenges. It focuses deeply on the car designer's professional role. You’ll have the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge, and intellectual abilities to design new vehicles based on a clear understanding of proportion, volume, and surface design principles. You’ll talk with professionals and experience this career path through practical training, guided tours, and visits. Then, you’ll move forward into the modeling lab and, together with your classmates, produce a car design model. Projects will be subject to the groups' and teachers' critiques. This introductory-level course is designed for creative, flexible, open-minded students or professionals from other fields, as well as people interested in the world of automotive design, who do not have prior knowledge or experience. Skills such as drawing or sketching can be useful.

A Guide to Studying Abroad in Torino
Subjects & Courses
With Torino being home to the Fiat automobile industry, the world-famous Lavazza coffee company, and national television networks such as Rai, international business is a very popular subject to study in Torino. The city can also claim the origins of Italian cinema, as well as ownership of The Egyptian Museum of Turin, with the largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts outside of Egypt. As such, film, archeology, and history are all very important disciplines of study in Torino’s universities.
There are a number of study abroad programs in Torino, most of which are partnered with the Università of Torino: founded in 1404, it is one of the oldest universities in the world and one of the top five universities in Italy. Some study abroad programs in Torino take place during the summer, while others offer the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or an entire academic year. The Polytechnic University of Turin is also in Torino, so the city is also well known for programs in engineering, architecture, and industrial design.
Depending on your study abroad program in Torino, your courses may be structured similar to American university courses, with a combination of lectures, discussion, class readings, and essays. Courses structured similar to Italian universities, or taken directly at an Italian university, such as the Università of Torino, will typically be lecture-style with an oral or written exam at the end of the semester. These courses require a great deal of independent reading and discipline, as Italian university systems tend to follow a self-regulated learning structure, so keep this in mind when selecting where to study abroad in Torino.
