In this month-long summer college program, you’ll attend an Efterskole (afterschool) College, a distinctive type of Danish school for young people ages 14 to 18. Join a Sea Turtle Conservation project in Greece which is now offering a two-week volunteering experience exclusively for teens aged 15 - 17. Join this hands-on project to learn about marine conservation and how human encroachment is affecting the marine habitats of the sea turtles. This project runs during the summer which is the time that sea turtles lay their eggs and hatchlings have to make it out to sea on their own. This project aims to protect turtle nests from humans and predators which give the hatchlings the best chances for survival. Volunteers will rotate between several tasks which can include: building and installing grids to protect turtle nests, collecting bamboo to build the grids, patrolling the beach and looking for turtle tracks and more.

This program for individuals ages 17-22 has just the right balance of adventure and environmental service in New Zealand, followed by the laid-back island living in Fiji. In New Zealand, we'll mountain bike in Rotorua, raft over the world's highest commercial waterfall, stay in a sacred Maori house, and connect deeply with nature during an environmental service. We'll work alongside park rangers, search for the elusive kiwi bird, plant native trees, get hands-on with local ecology and wildlife, and camp under brilliant starry night skies. The Polynesian legacy is the development of seafaring and navigation skills and canoe technology that enabled them to voyage across the Pacific Ocean. We journey across the Pacific to Fiji, immersing in authentic village life on Vatulele Island.

Our Florence program is one of Abbey Road's most popular study abroad programs for nearly twenty years running. Our students benefit from the residential living experience in the heart of Florence and 24/7 support from our program staff of professional artists, chefs, photographers, and art historians. From daily classes in Italian Language, Photography, Studio Art, Tuscan Cuisine, and Art History to activities ranging from museum visits to Top Chef, we challenge our students daily to try new interests, expand their horizons, and make the most of this exceptional summer opportunity. We give our students fresh, high-quality food from local markets. Our culinary staff members shop for our students, they conduct Tuscan cuisine workshops where students learn to make some of the Florentine delicacies. We cook together one or two nights per week, on some nights we go out for group dinners at trendy local restaurants. Some nights we have catered meals.
