Moonlight Children’s Home established in April 2009 provides a home for the abandoned homeless and orphan children of Nepal. MCH is a registered (NGO) non–profit, non-government organization of Nepal to provide home, food, education, clothes, a healthy environment and entertainment to the development of children so that they grow up to lead a normal life and become good citizens. Thousands of parents, especially mothers, die every year due to poverty, ignorance and superstitions. There are large numbers of children who lost their parents and become orphans. Moreover, Nepal suffered from conflict for about twelve years. Duringthis period many people lost their lives and many were orphaned during the decade-long Maoist conflict. After the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2015, several children lost their families and became orphans. Realising these facts Moonlight Children’s Home was established to improve the suffering of these children. In our patriarchal society females are dominated by the male society in every aspect of their lives and to grab the opportunities as a whole. So Moonlight Children’s Home is especially for the protection of such kinds of needs and orphan girls.

As a volunteer in Nepal, you’ll help youth and adults overcome the destruction and widespread poverty resulting from the 2015 earthquake. In Kathmandu’s valley, at an altitude lower than Denver, contribute your skills toward the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. The basic need for a children's development program stems from the following facts about Nepal. Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, with approximately 25% of its population living below the poverty line. Therefore, the fundamental rights of many community children are often not met. Most children in rural communities aged 3 to 5 lack access to quality education. Approximately 5% of children never attend school. The children who attend school often drop out before completing high school. Only 46.2% of children complete their high school education. They instead help at home, support household chores, and babysit while their parents work on the farm. 37.4% of children aged 5 to 17 are involved in agricultural labor, with a significant proportion working on their family farms. 26.3% of children aged 10 to 18 are married or in a union with their partner. So, the children’s development is not well in place.
