Join UCESCO Africa as a yoga instructor volunteer to help foster self-esteem and community connection among children, women, and students in Mombasa, Kilifi, and Malindi. By teaching yoga, you'll create a safe, supportive environment for locals, enabling them to rebuild their lives and grow emotionally and physically. In addition to yoga, you can guide discussions on healthy habits such as sleep, hydration, and gratitude, thereby further contributing to the community's mental wellness. This role involves teaching yoga, supporting youth through mindfulness activities, and fostering positive change. This essential program aims to help vulnerable children and adults through educational initiatives. Volunteers choose from placements in high schools, a special needs residential school, or a language school for adults. Schools in Mombasa are greatly under-resourced, so support from international participants makes a huge difference. The special needs school is large yet understaffed, thus requiring help with teaching and caring for over 480 residential students, some with severe disabilities, who would be at risk if staying in their communities. The school welcomes volunteers with experience in speech therapy, occupational therapy, social work, audiology, or another specialist area. They are especially looking for compassionate individuals willing to spend time with vulnerable children. On the other hand, the language school needs volunteers who can plan and conduct lessons in English, German, French, or Italian. The goal is to develop knowledge of a second language among young adults, helping open employment opportunities abroad. Under-resourced schools in Diani Beach seek volunteers to work with children living in extreme poverty.

In the Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment program, you will primarily work with teenagers who stopped going to school and are now attending tailoring classes in the Marwacodi workshop, and village people (mostly women) that are following Marwacodi’s workshops on braiding, jewellery making, and hairdressing. While they are learning the skills to perform a trade and earn income, they do not have knowledge on how to manage finance or to keep a business. About the program: You will contribute to Marwacodi’s activities in teaching business skills and empowering female-led entrepreneurship. We are looking for someone with basic business knowledge. Economic Empowerment for Teenage Mothers and Girls at Risk of Early Pregnancy: You will help in workshops of tailoring, hairdressing, and crafts. You will help organize fun activities as well as workshops on basic personal finance (e.g., saving, budgeting) and business (e.g., business ideation, personal goals) Entrepreneurship Promotion: You will hold workshops and trainings for village women and youth related to business management, record keeping, and savings group facilitation.
