Kenya is a country of internationally significant habitats where wildlife roams freely. It is home to rare, unique species and the Big Five (African elephant, Cape Buffalo, African leopard, and White/black rhinoceros ). But it is also a developing country, with a great range of poverty and health issues. If you are not quite sure yet about the cause you want to support in Kenya, we will guide you in your decision and give you advice about the safety and cultural considerations to have in mind, before visiting and volunteering in this great country.

Teach, Create, and Inspire with our Non-Profit in Kisumu, Kenya! In Kisumu, many children face limited access to quality education and enrichment opportunities. Poverty, overcrowded classrooms, and a lack of resources mean students often struggle to reach their full potential. At Better Me, we partner with local schools and community programs—such as Korando Educational Center, Kisumu Children’s Remand Home, and our Mobile Library in the Nyalenda slums—to change that story. As a Better Me volunteer, you’ll support after-school activities in English, Creative Arts, Music, Swimming, and Physical Education. Whether you’re helping children build language skills, sparking creativity, or encouraging physical activity, your efforts will nurture abilities and confidence that last a lifetime. You’ll work with different age groups while collaborating with local educators to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences. This is your chance to bring in your own ideas, gain real teaching experience, and grow personally through cultural exchange, community, and unforgettable memories. Come join us!

While Kenya boasts beautiful landscapes, it has a complicated past and a natural psyche. This coastal region is awash with luxurious beaches, wild animals, national parks, and lake fishing. You’ll find yourself in the county of Kisumu, right next to Lake Victoria, in the small town of Muhoroni where you’ll experience the kindness of the Kenyans. Kenya is stepping into the future. You can help with this process by volunteering in one of the many projects available in the town of Muhoroni, which lies 30 kilometers to the east of Kisumu city. It is mostly inhabited by the Luo tribe with a population of around 120,000 people almost entirely depending on subsistence farming (though there are three sugar factories). The people of Muhoroni are always warm and welcoming, and the smiles on their faces tell it all. Muhoroni has warm weather of about 25 Celsius all year round. As a volunteer, you will have the excitement to gain an even deeper understanding and appreciation of a foreign land and culture through humanitarian service, language and intercultural training, and exploration.

KVCDP partners with a local NGO to give international volunteers the opportunity to participate in a wide array of volunteer work, as well as short-term or long-term internships in Kenya. We evaluate every project to ensure commitment to programs with genuine need for volunteer aid, and not just financial assistance. We develop relationships with partner communities and help shape sustainable initiatives to encourage less dependence on outside help in the long run. Through these projects, we establish foundations from which people can build and develop themselves. No particular expertise or skills required. Participants should have a positive attitude, be ready to adopt and enjoy simple living conditions, and be flexible and patient. However, specialized skills and expertise (such as early childhood education, teaching math, English, sciences, tutoring) will be used accordingly. Volunteers are expected to love kids and be motivated to spend time with them.
