The Banyan Impact Fellowship (formerly AIF William J. Clinton Fellowship) is a fully funded 10-months program in India. By facilitating exchange and collaboration between young professionals from India and the U.S., the program aims to shape the next generation of leaders committed to positive and sustainable change and creating a lasting US-India relationship. Fellows serve with civil society organizations in various thematic areas including environment protection, climate justice, public health, education, livelihoods, arts, culture, and more. Fellows receive a stipend, health insurance, language training, mentoring, professional development, international networking and career opportunities. Join us for the adventure of a lifetime! Volunteers For Peace (a Vermont-based nonprofit) can place you on a team of international volunteers who contribute to a meaningful community service project designed, planned, and hosted by local partners. We offer the most affordable projects and the best way to meet people from all over the world. Work project types vary by country but may include environmental and wildlife conservation, historic preservation, educational and language learning, archaeology, organic farming, and arts and festivals. We also have social services projects, which could involve working with children, the elderly, or refugees. Projects are designed to combine service with recreational activities and cultural exchange – whether by visiting local beaches, learning local dances, meeting local officials, or volunteering with residents at the place you’re visiting. Each project is unique, but all bring people together for the most meaningful travel experience imaginable. Please note that VFP can only place US Citizens. This is due to our agreements with our international partners.

Participate in Globe Aware's India program and provide much-needed assistance in building and renovating important facilities for different age groups. Plus, have the opportunity to interact with the local children by teaching basic courses, games, sports, and arts and crafts. Projects are currently split into small and big based on the number of volunteers required. These may be chosen based on the community’s immediate needs. For solo, small group, or family volunteers: - HIV/AIDS care home for children - Special needs center for adults and kids - Government schools and daycare centers For big groups, with more than 20 volunteers - Sensory garden for a special needs school - Rural village water harvesting development - Low-cost, eco-friendly house development Accommodation options include one of Jaipur's several modest hotels, which all have electricity, running hot water, and western-style toilets. While these aren't "luxurious" accommodations, you will find that these are more than enough to ensure a comfortable experience. You can also choose to live with an Indian family in a homestay.

Begin your journey in Kolkata, where you will serve underprivileged children, special-needs students, and impoverished communities. Then, travel to Sikkim, a Himalayan state renowned for its monasteries, rich culture, and breathtaking mountain scenery. Volunteers support women and youth in handicrafts, English, and digital skills, and engage with children and local communities in need. The program also includes eco-tourism activities, such as monastery visits, heritage tours, and trekking through valleys and forests. A highlight is the chance to learn meditation directly from Buddhist Masters in mountain monasteries, combining service with self-discovery. Programs run for 7, 14, or 21 days at $700–$1,500, including food, lodging, transport, eco-tours, and orientation. Volunteers contribute about 4–5 hours/day, with flexible time for reflection, rest, and exploration. Offered by Noah’s Ark of Calcutta and Sinai Enterprise, this program blends social service, spirituality, and eco-tourism into one transformative experience.

We encourage individuals to apply as volunteers and make a meaningful contribution to international youth exchange and community development through medium and long-term placements ranging from 4 to 24 weeks. These placements involve working in ongoing local humanitarian projects located in rural or semi-urban areas. They provide an excellent opportunity to gain a deep understanding of grassroots situations and collaborate with marginalized communities. The pace of work in these placements is slower, which presents a constant challenge in managing volunteer expectations. It's important to recognize that significant global change cannot be achieved in such a short period. Nevertheless, the placement offers a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment by making a tangible impact on a cause with visible results. We offer flexibility for volunteers to join our programs, but in order to ensure effective coordination of project activities, we request volunteers to join on the first Monday of each month. Upon arrival, an initial orientation will be provided at the RUCHI office, where the desired project outcomes, as well as the volunteer's role and responsibilities, will be shared.
