Our Generation Voluntary Organisation offers Microfinance internships and volunteering opportunities in Ghana. Volunteers or interns will be placed in a unique position to assist with microfinance initiatives. These initiatives, typically implemented by the government and other institutions, are geared toward reducing urban and rural poverty. Volunteers and interns will participate by examining loan applications, filling out and balancing the daily ledger, leading exit interviews for individuals who are doing replaying, keeping track of beneficiary profiles and standing, as well as paying visits to beneficiaries in order to assess their progress and collect payments. For longer-term volunteers, they will be able to analyze reports in a more in-depth manner as they project long-term financial growth, review microfinance loan policy and procedure, and help to create new microfinance initiatives.

Most community centers in Africa offer a safe haven for children—providing shelter, education, a meal, and a break from life on the streets. St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation partners with organizations across Ghana to support and care for children in need. Many of these youth have faced neglect or trauma and lack the compassion and love of a stable family. Volunteers play a vital role in offering training that helps young people become self-reliant or self-employed through education, support, and counseling. Teaching core subjects like English and Math, and promoting the value of education, are key focus areas. This project also tackles social and physical challenges affecting youth, such as gender issues, reproductive health, drug abuse, and HIV/AIDS awareness. Whether you are interested in volunteer positions with children, teaching, sports, or community development in Ghana, we can help you find suitable placements. We are excited to offer a meaningful time in Ghana with our various development partners. Choose to work on one of our projects, allowing you to live and work alongside local people while experiencing their culture and lifestyle firsthand. Those who wish to volunteer may begin their program anytime during the year but must commit to at least two weeks at their project of choice. Although there is no language requirement, a minimum English speaking is needed. Volunteers also must be at least 18 years old to participate.

The Ghana Education Service has recently included arts as part of the curriculum at primary schools to help develop the creativity of pupils before they transition to junior high school. Since our education system is fairly new, we have a lack of creative art teachers; hence, the desperate need for volunteers to help teach the subject. When school is not in session, the project is carried out in orphanage homes as an after-school program. Volunteers support the cognitive development of children through creative methods using constructive materials, paints, clay, and drawings. They also help keep the classroom clean, teach basic English, and report daily activities to the local teachers. In addition to lessons in creative arts, volunteers can spend time assisting the teachers in other subjects. This is a great program for creative individuals, as they have the opportunity to design and implement recreational and educational activities for children. We encourage them to use their skills and interests to develop fun activities such as music and dance, arts and crafts, and more.
