RECRUITING NOW! Our Volunteering in Hospitals in Ghana placement is based in a hospital or clinic in Cape Coast, and participants assist doctors and nurses as they care for low-income patients. This is a fully functioning hospital supporting the communities around Cape Coast and, like any hospital, there are injuries, ailments, and diseases presenting themselves every day. There is a range of departments such as medical, surgical, gynecology, surgical, and the children’s ward as well as public health and dentistry. Medical volunteers can contribute through observational work, triage tasks, taking vitals and anthropometric measurements, treating injuries, shadowing nurses and doctors, sitting in on surgeries, and cleaning and preparing instruments, taking blood, and educational activities. Tasks will depend largely on experience. Volunteers who are studying or have finished a course related to health, nursing, dentistry, or medicine are preferred participants for this project. Those who are considering a career in medicine are also welcome to join. A flexible attitude is a must as well as a willingness to learn and participate wherever needed.

Roles: Report daily to the assigned facility, support staff, build positive patient relationships, maintain confidentiality, and follow facility guidelines. Tasks: Learn new skills, help identify patients with serious conditions, offer support when needed, and make donations when possible. St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation offers a medical volunteer program in rural and semi-rural areas in Ghana. This is suitable for individuals seeking hands-on experience and medical work exposure abroad. Medical professionals are also welcome to participate and assist as much as possible. Pre-med, medical, and nursing students can join as interns, learning about healthcare from an international context and contributing toward the local people's general well-being. Placements are in medical clinics, dispensaries, and hospitals in underserved communities. Tasks and responsibilities vary depending on educational background, experience, and skill. St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation also arranges Elective and Dentistry placements in Ghana. Volunteers work in the dental department in hospitals. The program is ideal for students looking to gain hands-on knowledge and experience by working under the supervision of dentists and dental assistants. Volunteers with medical training and medical students will support the local health centers in Ghana. These clinics and hospitals are severely understaffed and struggle to provide general care.

The Lady Volta Green Tech Academy (LVGTA), launched in 2015 by Village Exchange Ghana and Social Venture Africa, is a rural training centre in Ghana’s Volta Region. It empowers underprivileged youth—especially young women—with practical skills in electricity and renewable energy. Volunteers play a key role in advancing the academy’s mission to expand access to clean, affordable energy and promote gender equality through green technology. Volunteering roles include: • Technical Mentors: Deliver hands-on training in solar and electrical systems, assist with lab sessions, and contribute to curriculum design. • Women in Tech Advocates: Support female students through mentoring, empowerment workshops, and peer engagement. • Community Outreach Volunteers: Lead awareness efforts and help facilitate student-led energy projects in nearby communities. • Capacity Builders: Conduct training for instructors and assist with teaching strategies and evaluation methods. • Program Support: Manage reporting, impact tracking, grant writing, and building external partnerships.
