Volunteering in Canada – Taking Care of Horses in Need

Travel to Canada, where you'll become part of a dedicated team of animal welfare activists and help care for formerly farm horses and other animals on a beautiful ranch in Alberta. After you arrive at Calgary International Airport, you are picked up and taken to a horse ranch about 1.5 hours away from Calgary – your project location. As a volunteer in this project, you get the chance to actively contribute to animal welfare and, at the same time, explore Canada’s wonderful nature. Become involved in all daily tasks on the ranch. If you're experienced with horses, you'll spend time grooming, feeding, leading, and handling animals. You could also assist in animal pick-up, animal intake process, medical treatment, and hoof care. Volunteers with little or no horse experience are involved in cleaning paddocks and equipment, building and maintaining fences/sheds/shelters, supporting fundraising events, and helping with administrative tasks. Together with other volunteers, you’ll be accommodated in a guest house on the ranch grounds. You’ll share a dormitory, bathroom, and kitchen. As part of regular trips to the nearest town, you can purchase groceries for daily meals.
