Being a Leolingo camp counsellor was one of the best work experiences I’ve ever had. Andrea and her family welcomed us with open arms and truly made Germany feel like home. I had a fantastic experience working at the camps and spending time with the children. Additionally, all of the host families were amazing and some of the kindest people I have ever met. I also had the opportunity to work with an incredible group of people from all over the world. We got along very well and bonded quickly, which made the experience even more special. This is an experience I will always cherish, and I would definitely recommend Leolingo to anyone who has the opportunity to work there!

I worked for LEOlingo in 2021, 2022, 2023 and briefly in 2024. All I can say is that all those three summers and short but sweet 2 weeks in 2024 were some of my best and favourite summers and work placements of my life! Andrea is the most thoughtful boss you can find and she will make sure your time in Germany will be incredible. Bavaria is a beautiful place to visit and work in, and each camp is different but fun in its own way. There is plenty to see and do during your weekends too (or if you have evenings off at day camps, then evenings too!), so you definitely won't be bored - my recommendation is to embrace the German culture fully and take part in as many Fests as possible! And a must-do for all counsellors - visit Eibsee - the most spectacular lake in Germany!!! The programme that you teach at LEOlingo is so fun - some songs will live in your head rent free forever. I am still in touch with many friends from all around the world made over all those years, and it's so good now to be able to talk about our adventures, camp days and fun that we had. All in all, you will not regret it - if you want to have the best summer of your life, experience LEOlingo in Bavaria!!! :)

Working at Leolingo summer 2025 was a pleasure, the kids were always exciting, programming was well thought out, locations were always new and exciting, so much fun! Week long intensive training to help everyone learn the programming, games and activities so you’re well prepared for the job and working with the supervisors Paul and Nick is such a pleasure! They know what they’re doing!!

If you're at all curious about the program and on the fence about applying — just do it! Like past counselors have shared in previous reviews, the team and collaborative environment at LEOlingo is truly unforgettable. Working with colleagues from England, Ireland, and Canada means there's always something new to learn culturally and fun to be had. The other counselors' positive, enthusiastic, and dedicated attitude is truly infectious in the best way; when in doubt, I always had a solid team to rely on that was happy to help. Plus, I got to travel extensively during my one-week vacation and the weekends with fellow counselors who were just as enthusiastic about exploring Germany and its neighboring countries as I was. During the day-to-day camp life, I learned many different camp songs and games that still come in handy, working in a school environment. Despite all the work that goes into creating the best camp environment for the kids — leading high-energy activities for 7 hours a day — it never got overwhelming or boring thanks to the amazing, close-knit team. Andrea is a fantastic boss as well: encouraging, understanding, organized, flexible, and honest. Ultimately, I felt very welcome, gained vital leadership skills (and plenty of cool stories to share), and learned a lot about working with kids. I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in growing personally and professionally, creating meaningful friendships, and making memories that last a lifetime.

Hello! Im Amy from NYC. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to be part of LEOlingo English Camp not just once, but twice—first in 2021 and again this past year, 2025—and both experiences have been unforgettable. Andrea is truly the best boss you could ask for—always supportive, encouraging, and genuinely caring about both the staff and the kids. Southern Bavaria is lovely, and each camp is set in beautiful locations that it almost feels like a dream to be there every day. I loved the flexibility of the schedule, which gave me the chance to explore the region and even travel while working. The kids are awesome, they’re full of energy, curiosity, and laughter, which makes teaching English so much fun. Beyond the campers, one of the highlights for me has been the people I’ve met and the friendships formed with fellow counsellors. Spending time together, whether planning activities, sharing meals, or just hanging out in the evenings—created a real sense of family. I can say without a doubt that I would go back again, and I’m already planning to be part of it next year. It’s truly an experience that stays with you long after the camp ends.

Being a part of the LeoLingo team this summer was an unforgettable experience! The camps were fun, well-organised and really rewarding. The children were enthusiastic and I got to work with great team members from all around the world. It was also a wonderful opportunity to explore Bavaria and enjoy everything the region has to offer. Having worked for Leolingo for 5 years, I can confidently say that it changed my life. I have gained friends from around the world, challenged myself and made some great memories. It helped me get acquainted with Germany, and now I even live here permanently. I must also say that Sabine is the most considerate, organized and welcoming boss I could imagine, she took a chance on me 6 years ago and this opportunity broadened my horizon immensely, so for that I'm very grateful! I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work for LeoLingo. Southern Bavaria is beautiful, and the language camps are incredibly fun. I learnt so many transferable skills from working as a camp counsellor, and you are constantly supported. It is a hugely rewarding experience.

I have done LEOlingo for 3 summers and it's been incredible every single time. The camp is very well organized and the person running the camp will give you everything you need in order to have a fun (and successful) summer. The activities are also great and the co-workers I met are what kept bringing me back every year! Additionally, the camp also provides vegetarian and vegan meals, which was a plus for :)

Doing LEOLingo was a great experience for me as it combined having a summer job with traveling. You get to know your coworkers well who, in my experience, have been really nice and interesting people from all over the world and the person who runs the program is very caring and makes sure that all your needs are met. Overall it was an amazing summer!

I have worked as a counselor at LEOlingo for the past two summers and will be returning this summer. The director respects and prioritizes the counselors needs over everything, making sure they are well taken care of and well-equipped to teach games and activities to the children.

LEOlingo is an incredible company to work for. I've met some lifelong friends there as well as getting to experience a wonderful summer in northern Germany. Throughout the camp you'll have opportunities to do windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, high ropes courses, canoeing and many more exciting activities. It's a perfect way to spend a summer abroad!

If you are looking to meet incredible people, travel abroad in Europe, and impact other peoples' lives, I highly recommend working with Camp Europe. I worked with Camp Europe this past summer for about six weeks as an English teacher in Bath, UK, and Walsrode, Germany. The training week in Walsrode was one of the best weeks of my life. I am incredibly thankful to have made such good friend and to have been apart of such a great team. It's extremely fulfilling to work with kids and teens and to do so in such a great community. As for the camp itself, it is a very unique experience. You live in tents, eat camp food in a large dining hall, and enjoy the great outdoors. It makes for a great working environment and encourage teamwork with your peers.

Teaching English at Camp Europe was an extremely rewarding experience. This role is quite diverse and no day will be quite the same as the next. From navigating campers through classroom based lessons with an emphasis on fun and creative projects, to assuming the role of an outdoor adventure instructor and guiding groups through exciting activities, the role is sure to provide many memorable and novel teaching experiences. There is an opportunity to teach at a variety of camp locations throughout Germany and England. Although I was quite apprehensive of leaving the main camp at Walsrode at first, I very quickly began to love journeying to the language camps around Germany. There was certainly something special about preparing a lesson on a terrace overlooking the beaches of the North Sea, or teaching campers nature vocabulary while hiking through the forests of Bavaria. The days could be quite long, but getting to unwind and relax at the camp fires each night with the rest of the camp instructors was often the highlight of the day. I always looked forward to catching up with everyone and meeting new people from all parts of the world, with conversation and laughter often lasting long into the night. While this role could sometimes be challenging and tiring, it was a wonderful experience alongside many new friends that I will remember fondly.

I had gained my TEFL certification a year before doing this, but this was my first chance at teaching English as a second language and I am glad it was. The experience was very enjoyable and the kids that came to the English summer camp were eager to learn and develop their skills, they wanted a learning environment more fun and engaging than the regular classroom which we were able to provide and seeing how much they enjoyed the activities and lessons I provided made the experience so much better and built my confidence as a teacher.

LEOlingo is one of the coolest travel jobs I have had! Imagine, stand up paddle boarding and windsurfing in the Baltic sea, building rafts and canoeing in some of the most beautiful lakes in Germany and meeting some of the coolest kids on the planet. Imagine all this, AND you get paid to do it! I have come back twice to LEOlingo because I love it so much! Sabine is so welcoming and helping you out with anything you need. The team always becomes one big family by the end of summer and the memories you will make are priceless. Whether you want teaching experience, a summer job or just an experience of a lifetime, LEOlingo is the place for you!

LeoLingo is truly a fabulous program. I've taught with other English camp programs elsewhere, and I can definitely recommend LeoLingo as my favorite. They are very personal and caring. This isn't like a giant 250 staff member company where you never meet the leaders or stay in one place long enough to get to know your co-workers well. LeoLingo is a rich family atmosphere where the leadership is invested in their program on a personal level. The team is small and tight-knit, and the city of Schwerin will really feel like home thanks to the effort the leadership makes to connect their employees to the culture and to the rest of the team. LeoLingo provides a rich opportunity for training in researched-bases ESL practices, while being able to travel all over Northern Germany, and meet people from all over the world.

My summer in Halle was an enriching experience that will remain with me for a long time to come. The management is competent, helpful and sensitive to the needs of each participant. Volunteers are well taken care of and the hospitality of the broader community surrounding the Excellence Center is exceedingly warm. The language instruction is strong, the work itself is rewarding, and the mood is both positive and relaxed. I wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone interested in languages, whether teaching or learning. Students and young people should especially consider this program.

My experience at The Excellence Center in Europe was fun, enlightening and very worthwhile. When I first arrived in at the center in Halle, I was warmly welcomed and was able to start working the day I got there. As I was given a tour of the facility, I started to realize that I was about to be apart of a pleasantly tight-knit group of people who care about the wellbeing of the community and its inhabitants through means of intercultural-change and understanding. While working there, I was very in control of my schedule, who I wanted to teach, and how I wanted to teach it. My boss, Rafat Shantir, was very understanding of people who wanted to take a little time of to do things like travel. He was also very accommodating of the things we would want to teach. My coworker, for example, started a class that taught people who were interested in learning how to do computer programming. The relationships that I built were probably the most important takeaway from my experience at The Center. I mainly taught in a one-on-one setting, and I really got to know my students throughout the 3 months that I taught there. As most of my students were Syrian refugees, I was given an opportunity for an intercultural dialogue, the likes of which I had preciously been exposed to, especially coming from the US. Overall, my work at The Center was a great life experience and has opened my eyes to new cultures and the importance of all of us sharing and exchanging our cultures. Through these intercultural dialogues, we can build a world of tolerance, harmony and mutual understanding.

August 2019 I heard about this program through my University website, I was excited about Germany and wanted to try something new so I applied and was hired. The process took a couple of weeks. Reflecting back on this summer I would say that this program changed my life because I feel like I was not as comfortable working with kids of all ages until now, I learned to not take myself too seriously and how to adapt quickly. The techniques we used became very useful when teaching and dealing with kids in general, and the training program really prepared me well for what was ahead at the time. This program was also very well-organized and everyone was very inviting, full of energy and helpful the entire time. Andrea, Anne-Marie, and Tito responded quickly to any questions and was there every step of the way. They also went out of their way to prepare and make this experience welcoming and fun! :D Also, the locations of the different camps were very beautiful, and I saw parts of Germany that I would have never seen otherwise. I think this experience is a good combination of cultural immersion and personal development. To add, the group of counselors that I worked with was amazing too and we were very close and it made this experience awesome as well since they were from all over the native speaking world, and it was cool immersing all these different nationalities together. I felt comfortable the entire time and felt like everyone treated me like family. I would say that it was really hard to finish this summer because it was hard to say goodbye. I would definitely do this again, I am so thankful I had this experience. It was a great way to spend my summer :)
