Teaching Jobs in Poland

Poland is one of the most widely untapped markets in Europe for the educator abroad. The European Union’s sixth most populated country has one of the fastest growing economies on the continent, and is widely regarded as the most successful country to emerge from behind the Iron Curtain after the fall of the Soviet Union. Teach abroad in Poland to discover an archetypal Central European country with rich history, beautiful sprawling countryside, and increasingly bright prospects on the global stage.

Feels like home away from home!

December 24, 2024by: Nelisa Nkosi - South AfricaProgram: Teach English in Poland with English Wizards

Moving abroad is always expected to be a complicated and challenging process. For me, that was not the case. I am very grateful to English Wizards for holding my hand throughout the entire process of moving to Poland. From the visa process to my arrival in Poland, the support has been tremendous. I don't feel like a foreigner at all in Poland. I feel right at home and have adapted to my new life a lot sooner than I expected. The only challenge is the language barrier, as not many Polish citizens can speak English and Polish is a very difficult language to learn. However, I am not letting that discourage me as I am learning the language with little progress so far. I honestly would be lost without the help and support of English Wizards. Whenever I need help or assistance with anything, they are quick to respond within 1 day. To think I almost gave up on their support because of frustrations with the visa delays at the Polish Embassy. Thankfully, I did not listen to that discouraging voice in my head because I feel at home in Poland, so much so that I have decided to stay longer than I initially intended. I highly recommend English Wizards for every English teacher planning to live and work in Poland. They are highly experienced and knowledgeable in this particular field. They are truly God-sent. Poland was never my first choice, so I feel that Poland picked me through English Wizards. God bless them for their hard work and dedication. Keep it up guys!

A Guide to Teaching Abroad in Poland

Locations

While its borders have fluctuated throughout history, Poland’s national history can be traced back over a millennium to the middle ages. Today Poland is an expansive country with nearly 40 million citizens and the 9th largest land area in Europe, so there are plenty of potential destinations that you can choose from to teach abroad.

Warsaw, the capital and largest city, is one of the most popular locations where to teach abroad in Poland. Although largely destroyed during World War II, Warsaw has rebuilt itself to become one of the most important political and economic forces in Central Europe, with exciting cultural opportunities also abound.

Krakow is another exceedingly popular destination where to teach abroad in Poland. Krakow managed to largely survive the destruction and chaos of war during the 20th century; its extensive gothic, renaissance, and baroque architecture still stands, bringing it acclaim as one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe (Krakow’s historical city center was the first ever place to be protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site).

Other cities where you can teach abroad in Poland include Lodz, Wroclaw, and Poznan. There are many different teaching placements in addition to these available throughout the country, so take some time researching what destinations seem like the most enticing to you!
