The Gold Coast and Brisbane program is an ideal study abroad experience if you love the outdoors. Based along the country’s east coast, this program lets you explore beaches, a coral reef system, rainforests, and scenic highways. The host institution is Griffith University, where you take courses in various disciplines including Visual Media, Multimedia Telecommunications, Biomolecular Science, Banking and Finance, and International Relations. Australian semesters are different from the American academic calendar. The first semester runs from February to June and the second semester runs from July to November. You can attend any Griffith University campus: on the Gold Coast and several in the Brisbane area - Mt. Gravatt, Nathan, and Southbank. Each campus is unique and offers a wide range of course options, as well as academic and personal support. You can also participate in student activities and clubs.

Spend a semester or academic year in the vibrant and energetic city of Perth, Australia, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 16 credits per semester through a variety of courses studying at Murdoch University. Courses are taught in English. You can spend a week in Fiji and earn 1 credit through the optional Pacific Studies program at the University of the South Pacific. Internships are available in exercise science and public policy. On the other hand, volunteering and community engagement opportunities are available through Murdoch University as part of the social and cultural program. Veterinary Service: Australia is available as both a high school program (ages 14-18) and a college and young adult program (ages 18-25). This amazing opportunity takes place outside of Sydney, in Calga Springs, where you will live at a ZAA-accredited wildlife sanctuary for two weeks. Your group will be led by a team of veterinarians who help oversee all activities and teach you all about Australian animals. From kangaroos and koalas to frogmouths and pythons, this sanctuary has pretty much any Australian animal you can dream of (except for a platypus). You will get hands-on while learning about marsupials, mammals, birds, and reptiles as well as helping with their upkeep, enrichment, and medical needs. You will work alongside veterinarians and the park staff each day. On weekends, we will head to Sydney for fun activities, including a trip to the Sydney Opera House and some famous beaches. We will also have a behind-the-scenes visit to the veterinary world of the famous Taronga Zoo. An additional adventure week can be added to explore Australia more.
