Spend one or two semesters in the “Sunshine State” of Australia, where a year has an average of 300 sunny days! The Gold Coast and Brisbane program is an ideal study abroad experience if you love the outdoors. Based along the country’s east coast, this program lets you explore beaches, a coral reef system, rainforests, and scenic highways. The host institution is Griffith University, where you take courses in various disciplines including Visual Media, Multimedia Telecommunications, Biomolecular Science, Banking and Finance, and International Relations. Australian semesters are different from the American academic calendar. The first semester runs from February to June and the second semester runs from July to November. You can attend any Griffith University campus: on the Gold Coast and several in the Brisbane area - Mt. Gravatt, Nathan, and Southbank. Each campus is unique and offers a wide range of course options, as well as academic and personal support. You can also participate in student activities and clubs.

In this short intensive program, you’ll cover the diversity and physical processes of Western Australia’s marine habitats; focus on coral reef environments and the biodiversity of reef organisms; and study biological processes. The Great Barrier Reef, one of the seven wonders of the natural world, lies in the clear blue waters off the northeast coast of Australia. Spanning 14 degrees of latitude, this complex reef system is not only the world's largest expanse of coral but also the Earth’s largest living structure, a massive, beautiful, and ancient biological phenomenon of bewildering diversity and immense ecological significance. This graduate course program is offered jointly with The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (Reef Authority), which is responsible for the long-term health of the Great Barrier Reef for future generations. Located in Townsville, Queensland, the reef authorities focus on several goals, including enhancing reef resilience through partnerships, collaboration, and education. Before and following the field experience in Australia, students will complete coursework via Dragonfly Workshops' Web-Based Learning Community as they apply these experiences to their home institutions.
