Program Overview

JOIN A FRIENDLY, LAID-BACK COMMUNITY BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS AND THE SEA Find everything from computer science to communications to creative arts at this large university. With fewer commuting students than other Aussie schools, it’s easier to get to know Australian peers here. Gather on campus at Duck Pond Lawn or head to the nearby beach to catch some waves. With four beaches and a national park next door, Wollongong is every bit as beautiful and more affordable than Sydney or Melbourne. Keep an eye out for seals, dolphins, and whales as you walk the iconic Blue Mile Walk from North Beach to Wollongong Harbor. Must-see Sydney is just 90 minutes by train, making it easy to explore icons like the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Also included, a full range of tours and activities designed to make sure you see other areas, like lush Hunter Valley and the Blue Mountains, and help you discover deep-set indigenous traditions.

An experience I wouldn't trade for the world!

IFSA provided me the grounds in order to learn how to live independently in Wollongong, Australia. With caring and committed advisors, I felt as though I had a home away from home while being abroad on the other side of the world. This was such a rewarding experience and one I wouldn't trade for the world- I learned so many things about the world, myself, met new friends, took different courses, travelled on my own to different parts of Australia and none of that would be possible without the guidance of IFSA.

Best semester ever!

From the pre-departure materials, to the transition events, my semester in Australia through IFSA was very well-organized and well-thought out. I never feared not having enough information and felt very comfortable with whatever I was doing.
