As a Projects Abroad Dentistry intern in Tanzania you can work alongside skilled medical professionals, learning about the dentistry profession in a different culture. You will be working in dental clinics that have few resources and you will learn a lot about how the dental profession works in a developing country. You will be placed in clinics in either Dar es Salaam or Arusha. Your role will be to observe the dentist and their staff throughout the day. By shadowing the staff, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and review cases. If you have dental experience and are enthusiastic and willing you may be given more responsibility. This could be helping set up the instruments for the dentists and assisting them while they treat patients.
Program Highlights
Shadow dentists in dental clinics and health centres and learn from observing them. This is a great opportunity to get an insight into how dentistry is practiced in a developing country.
You’ll get to see advanced cases that you wouldn’t see on an internship in your home country.
Many of the health centres and clinics are under re-sourced, rest assured your help is greatly appreciated.
You’ll be based in Arusha, a city in northern Tanzania. With scenic nature trails and a bustling city centre, it’s the perfect setting to experience life in East Africa.
