CIEE College Study Abroad

Studying abroad in Seville, Spain, was one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career. As a low-income college student, I never thought studying abroad would be possible for me, even though spending a semester in Spain had been a dream of mine since the beginning my freshman year of high school. Before coming to college, opportunities like this felt completely out of reach. Thanks to scholarships, financial aid, and support from my university and CIEE, I was able to turn that dream into reality. Living in a homestay was one of the highlights of my experience. It gave me the opportunity to experience Spanish culture firsthand, improve my Spanish skills, and learn what daily life in Spain is really like. The academics were engaging, and the support provided by CIEE was excellent from the application through the end of the program. One challenge I faced was healthcare, since I receive a monthly medication. It was little difficult to make sure I had enough before leaving, and I ended up needing to get a dose while abroad and had to pay for it out of pocket. This created some additional stress, but the staff were supportive whenever I needed help navigating challenges like this. I also found making friends difficult at times, but this is something I have always struggled with. Even so, I was able to form a meaningful friendship during my semester abroad. Overall, studying in Seville helped me grow academically, personally, and culturally. One finally piece of advice: If you are currently an undergraduate student who thinks studying abroad is financially our of reach., don't count yourself out. I once felt the same way and I encourage you to explore your opinions. I never thought I would have the chance to do something like this, and it ended up being one of the best experiences of my life.

I would recommend this to a friend because the courses were very insightful and I loved that we got to go on guided trips to places I otherwise would not have known of. And because the class size was small, I got to connect with my peers a lot more.

I think that this program is an accessible way for students to venture outside of their comfort zone in both their taste pallet and social interactions. In this program you will learn to make friends with people you might not encounter on a day to day basis.

Program is well structured and the pre orientation is super helpful, specially because going to a new country can feel overwhelming so the guide made it easier. The staff is very attentive to our needs and they host events and day trips to help us be involved in our new city

This experience changed my life. I feel like I grew in ways here I didn’t know was possible. I learned so much both inside and outside the classroom. I met the nicest most amazing people and made memories to last a lifetime. I will be forever grateful for this experience.

Literally everything about CIEE and Berlin specifically have been amazing. Eric, Mitchell, Kristen, and literally everyone else are so friendly and knowledgable, helping with so many problems constantly and setting up events. When you walk through the building and see a staff member they know your name and say hello. The building itself is really nice and clean, and the classes and everything about CIEE really made my personal study abroad as good as I feel it could be. Thanks again!

This program was spectacular; every aspect was flawless and unforgettable. The program itself was life changing. The opportunities to explore the country through weekends and field trips were splendid and the classes were interesting and fun.

I would 100% recommend CIEE Study Abroad. I stayed in London for all 3 of my blocks, and the staff could not have been more helpful and supportive throughout my time here. They have helped me grow as a student, and as a person in the last 4 months, and I have found a city that I have fallen in love with. The planned events were always perfectly timed with the seasons and had a variety to choose from every block. I plan on returning in spring of 2027 through CIEE again!

CIEE has given me the opportunity to explore Italy in a way that would not have been possible without their staff or weekly extracurricular activities. I was also very pleased with the coursework and the overall course load that ensured I wasn't drowning to get things done.

I absolutely loved CIEE! I would recommend them because they are extremely supportive, helpful, and kind. The professors are really good to teach the classes and as persons, Sevilla is a beautiful place, all the activities CIEE has as trips, sports, and learning more about the community and culture of Sevilla. That is why I would recommend CIEE.

Study abroad in general is a life-changing experience, but CIEE has a built-in community that you can always run back to. The teachers are extremely passionate and kind, and they feel a little more like friends than teachers. Being forced to be in class with the same few people creates relationships fast, and the classes feel more like friendly hangouts than classes. I love the CIEE activities as they gave me experiences I wouldn't have had on my own. CIEE also has scholarships available that make it possible to have the study abroad experience, and I am extremely grateful for receiving those scholarships.

Study abroad itself is a lifechanging experience, and one that I think everyone should experience due to the self-development that you will experience. I would recommend my friend to do it specifically with CIEE because of how helpful they are in terms of adaptations, courses, and any problems that may arise.

I would highly recommend CIEE Study Abroad to a friend or a peer because it has been an incredibly valuable and rewarding experience for me. The program provided a great balance between academics and cultural immersion, allowing me to grow both personally and academically. Living with a host family has allowed me to practice my Spanish daily and experience the culture in a more authentic and personal way. I also really appreciate how supportive and available the CIEE staff are. Overall, this experience has helped me become more independent, confident, and open-minded.

The only disclaimer I would give is that it is very structured and feels like a school program (which it is ofc) but if you’re looking for a more independent living abroad experience it could be slightly different than expected

I think this is a great program for a specific type of person, who wants a little more of a specific program than many others, as well as providing more guidance. I was very drawn to it because of the specific ecology focus that I didn't see many other places.

CIEE develops a person in many areas of life, not only specific to their academic advancement. I've learned to represent myself in a professional setting better as well as observe the importance of intercultural AND intracultural communication alongside my peers.

Specifically the Monteverde site is super great! It’s a supper nice campus that is immersed in nature which I love. There are also a ton of resources around campus to make us feel at home. It’s also super amazing that we have food provided for us!

I have truly had an amazing experience throughout my time abroad in this program. I have met the coolest people, and I have also taken amazing classes. There is also so much time to be independent and travel the world with no restraints while also learning!

Playing soccer in the rain with my program in Monteverde was one of my most memorable moments. It was simple but so fun, and it brought everyone together while we laughed, played, and enjoyed the moment.

I would recommend yes! Especially for Art History majors because the course immerses you in the Art where you are able to critically evaluate the works it a fist hand way that pictures can not do justice to.

CIEE Study Abroad experience has been a very rewarding experience. I was able to get out what I was hoping to. From the immersion in historical, cultural, and modern experiences to engaging with coursework and language and warm hospitality, I've had a truly immersive and rewarding experience in Amman.

I would recommend studying abroad because you get to engage in a course you choose. You also have the liberty to explore the place you choose to stay in and the staff in the CIEE will support you if you have any concerns and you won't feel alone.

CIEE has very flexible and diverse programs. There are many different times and places students can study. At my university people are often apprehensive to study abroad so flexibly is very helpful and encouraging for short term or long term stays.

CIEE makes the study abroad experience super accessible for people that may have thought they would not study abroad, and I have very much enjoyed my experience on this program! Studying abroad has been such a transformative experience for me. When you're in another country, you have no choice but to do your best and overcome any obstacles that come your way. I've discovered a resilience and perseverance within myself on this trip that I would never have realized if I had stayed at home. Of course, the reason I feel brave enough to take risks was because I knew CIEE was behind me every step of the way. With the support of the staff, I knew that I had someone in my corner; I felt emboldened to take risks and put myself out there. I think CIEE is the perfect program for people who want to test their limits and broaden their horizons.

I would likely recommend it because I had a great experience with CIEE. Taking a gap year after high school was rewarding, and climbing Montserrat was one of my favorite memories of the program.

The CIEE staff clearly really care about us and how we do. Ashlyn is very organized, and really tries her hardest to fix any issue we have with courses. The teachers at Villanova University are also all AMAZING and so kind.

I think it is a great program, obviously. It's super cool to just spend a really potent six weeks in a country, develop some passionate friendships, and then move on to the next place. I think I have learned a lot so far, and it's only the end of the first block

There's nothing like being able to work on completing your academics in a different country along with students all over the United States. Being able to be immersed into a different culture, a different environment, you're able to widen your macro lense going forward.

I feel I was able to learn a lot of valuable lessons through this experience. I've grown in maturity, independence, and learned how to adapt when things didn't work out the way I expected. I felt this program taught me how to take charge and flourish in newfound confidence. With CIEE, the communication was always available and staff were friendly and kind. However with the activities, I did find we were a bit pressed for time with a majority of them due to starting late. Despite that, the activities and day trips were super memorable and fun! Overall, I'd highly recommend this program.

I would be very likely to recommend CIEE because they make the logistics of studying abroad seamless. From the airport pickup to the housing arrangements, everything was well-organized, which allowed me to focus on my classes and exploring Singapore without stress.

I immediately felt so welcome and supported throughout my entire time abroad. There were several activities offered throughout the months which was so nice to be able to see different parts of Italy and do activities, like Arno rafting, that I wouldn’t necessarily do on my own time. They built a very strong community in this program and I am so glad I chose CIEE! Through the activities I made lots of friends and I will miss them all when we leave!

Extremely likey program beacuse it is a good experience for everyone to go out and explore a different cultural. Singapore is a great place to explore, I loved the people I met here. Amazing Experience.

I would recommend CIEE to a friend because they do a great job at dedicating time for travel for the study abroad students and the teachers are also very understanding of students motivation to go abroad.

It was a fun experience, something new and out of this world. One of my favorite moments was seeing the new baby cow on our campus. It was so cute and made the experience even more memorable.

Madrid specifically has awesome staff, good schedule for classes with ability to travel and spend time exploring. Liked taking 2 classes at a time to be able to live fully too. Liked the internship seminar a lot.

I had an absolutely incredible time at CIEE. I have never met people more dedicated to full immersion in the beauty of Moroccan culture than Madiha and Haddou, the amazing directors at the Rabat site. There was a beautiful balance between academic education and teaching in ways beyond the classroom, and my perspective was respected and engaged with. Moreover, all the language and culture peers who routinely visited the site were incredibly kind and welcoming. If a student is looking to feel entirely at home in a new country, they should look no further than CIEE!

I think the program had amazing included benefits to the students, the activities planned and trips helped build a community within the program and help students see more of the surrounding cities in Italy.

The field trips are AMAZING. They are what make this program so so fun and exciting. The academics are rigorous, yet they also find a way to incorporate these incredible field trips while still making them academic. Each field trip was perfect and so unique to each other. They were timed incredibly, the food was great, everything was great. - Bungalows are very nice, beds are comfy - Hangout spaces are incredible, rec room, library, field. - Food is good - Nature is amazing - ALL staff are so nice and welcoming

The ability of this program to provide freedom and independence in exploring Japan while still providing opportunities to learn and interact with the culture. The classes offered range in a variety of subjects and really allow you to learn what you want.

I found that the program has an amazing campus and professors. The staff are some of the friendliest and great people I have ever met, and I trusted them to handle any problem I could possibly face here.

Studying abroad, such as in Paris, France, has changed my perspective on the world and ways to learn. I didn’t know much about some countries and classes being based on a world view was really nice and kept things interesting.

It’s an amazing opportunity to see the world and isn’t as expensive as some other programs! They’re super hands on, which I personally like because it’s nice to know you have a support system that cares about you when you’re thousands of miles away from your family or friends. The people that work here are so nice and genuinely want to get to know you and make you feel cared about. I was so scared to study abroad, but the second I got here, I knew I was in the right hands and felt cared about. It's nice to know you have a whole team of people who have your back when doing something super out of your comfort zone. I also like that they conduct excursions within our classes but also for the program as a whole.

My study abroad experience has been over and beyond what I had expected. Beginning with the staff and how they made me feel at home with their kindness and support to the way the program is organized (regarding the class schedule, cultural excursions, etc), I am very satisfied and grateful for my experience and would wish other people to experience this as well.

i would highly recommend the CIEE study abroad program to my friend or peer because it is super fun and interesting, also brings us a wonderful opportunity to explore and experience different environments, and allows us to put ourselves in a brand new and completely different surrounding, which is breaking our comfort zone. I really enjoyed how this program really cares about our experience here. I liked how trips and activities were planned for us because some things I did on day trips and activities I probably would not have done on my own.

CIEE has made my study abroad experience very smooth. The classes have been very interesting with great professors, I have gotten help with medical issues, they've fixed things quickly in my apartment. Everything has been better than I have expected and I cannot thank them enough.

Genuinely something for everyone, and my program did a great job of exposing my group to the culture, filling time with amazing experiences, while still alotting free time to enjoy what we chose.

The program staff was incredibly responsive and supportive of students when any challenges arose. We had access to many resources. The level of Chinese language instruction contributed significantly to my learning. The class trips were well organized and enjoyable.

Studying abroad in Sydney with CIEE was such an amazing experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, approachable, and always willing to help, especially when I was feeling a bit alone or just wanted something fun to do. The program itself is fantastic; there’s so much to do and explore in Sydney, and being at UNSW made it easy to take advantage of everything. CIEE Study Abroad did a great job making a home away from home. The love, kindness, and continuous support allowed me to become vulnerable and open myself to find new waves and personalities of myself that I never thought I could become.

I would highly recommend this course to any student. One of the highlights was how friendly and welcoming the staff were, especially when it came to adjusting to a new country. From the very beginning, they made us feel supported and at home. The courses, professors, and excursions were incredibly enriching. We were fully immersed in the culture and given meaningful opportunities to learn more about Africa—both inside and outside the classroom. The smaller cohort size for each block also made a huge difference. It allowed us to form close bonds, work together well, and explore the country both independently and as a group. The staff also played a key role in our experience by offering great recommendations on places to visit, eat, and explore. Their support helped us navigate the country safely and confidently. On top of that, the weather was amazing, which added to the overall experience. This course is not only educational but eye-opening. It offers a chance to be fully immersed in a different culture,

The ecology & conservation program would be a great growth experience for anybody interested in nature even tangibly. It was very well organized and the staff was very responsive to all the needs and accommodations

I have had a great experience in Monteverde with CIEE. The housing and campus are comfortable and the staff are very friendly. I have learned so much in the classes and our professors are extremely knowledgeable.

There are so many perks that come with the education. The field trips are extremely fun and already paid for, the facilities and buildings are extremely nice, the food is great, it is super beautiful, it is a good balance of academics and free time. They offer a lot of opportunities like the van into town several times a week which is super helpful, as it is expensive to get a taxi into town. I would have rarely gone into town if transport wasn't provided. I met some really great people here that I feel I will be connected to after the program, including the professors who were extremely warm and kind. I feel like I had a large family during study abroad, the campus isolation can be hard at times, but it makes the community really close. It feels like all of the staff really care about your experience and well-being. This is the most fun and packed semester I've ever had.

I had the most amazing experience here in Monteverde with CIEE. Though it was definitely more remote (in terms of access to other towns/markets/etc.) than I expected, the wildlife more than made up for it.

I would be likely bc they set you up to do well. Classes were interesting, and I learned a lot. However, I know at other study abroad programs, for instance, public transport was covered, whereas CIEE did not cover anything as such.

Because all of the staff here is extremely kind and helpful, plus the events are all super fun. Especially with CIEE BA as it is a smaller program, it is very personable, and the activities can be modified slightly if needed, which is very considerate and goes above and beyond what is expected.

I would 1000% recommend CIEE & their Rome, Italy program to a friend or peer, not only are they incredibly helpful but it is user friendly and I always knew where to go if I needed any help or had any questions.

All the activities were thoroughly planned out and I learned a lot during my stay. The professors were willing to cater to our own interests in learning and dive deeper into topics that interested us specifically.

I would be likely to recommend CIEE to a friend or peer because the program is very well laid out and prepared. There are a lot of opportunities to experience the culture that I otherwise would not have had, as well as traveling to some new places. One thing I would tell them, though, is about the guest lectures and how they may actually count toward attendance. I have lost a lot of allotted free time because some classes required 6 or more lectures on Wednesdays. While they are very insightful, it would be more enticing to attend them on my own time when I am able to as opposed to being required to attend them for a grade.

I would likely recommend the program because of the ability to learn more about the Czech Republic. In addition to this, they can travel to other countries while still exciting on their course of study.

It was an amazing experience that I got even more out of than I expected! The campus is very beautiful and well maintained, I especially loved every field trip, I feel that I learned so much on these trips. I also liked the ability to independently travel off campus and the transportation to Santa Elena. I felt supported by the staff, and felt happy that many spent the time to get to know us. I felt very connected to the other students and I learned a lot about the topics I came here to learn about, and I gained a new perspective on everything and feel inspired by the support and encouragement given by my instructors. The program was well-organized and I really enjoyed my time in Sevilla! For the South Korean program, they incorporated many excursions that were culturally and historically relevant to Korea and interesting to the students. They were also really supportive and friendly to the students.

I'm really glad I decided to come to Jordan, and I especially think now that fewer and fewer people are coming because of the political situation and the war on Gaza, I would recommend the program even more because I think it's so important that people get to live here and learn about the region. The program with CIEE in Dublin, Ireland is straightforward and the resources are helpful. The day trips were a lot of fun, the class was engaging, and the price is reasonable, especially for out of state students.

I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain during the summer of 2023. I had such an amazing time exploring the culture, food, and language! I would highly recommend this program and study abroad in general to anyone considering it. It is worth it and I will never forget the experiences I had being immersed in another environment and culture.

I loved this trip I had the time of my life! One key problem was that we were promised SIM cards for our phones before our trip and never received those. Other than that I loved the chance to help others. I will forever remember my roommate and family I stayed with! I still talk with them! We talk on whats app and snap daily I will forever be changed by them. One more thing to add before I move on is what all I learned from my homestays niece. She taught me about all kinds of sterotypes and social class standards and culture in their country. Her and I are still good friends. The kids we worked with were so amazing and showed me so much about privilege and how to help, learn, and teach those in need. One key experience i had with a little girl was when we were playing and i told her how beautiful her hair was she then looked at me and said, "no I have bad hair your hair is good hair", In the DR I learned that many people experience a lot of colorism and many little girls hate their curly or frizzy hair, I made sure to assure her she was beautiful and she gave me the biggest hug. That was a key experience for me. Also I learned a lot from the language. I did feel that the classes they had us in were a bit too easy but my family, the community, and our program leaders were all very good at keeping us immersed. Also my program leaders were the most kind Godly people I've ever met. They loved on us like nobody has ever before. I cried so much before I left knowing I would have a long time if I ever came back. I came here completely free on scholarship and wouldn't have gotten such an opportunity if it weren't for my amazing community collaborating with CIEE. Unfortunately my family just doesn't have such funds, but thankfully I had one of the greatest experiences I think I will ever have.

I had an incredible experience traveling with CIEE to China. It was incredible to live with a local host family and get to experience the native language in context. It was a life changing experience and I want to return to Nanjing, Shanghai, and Beijing soon!!

I think the program offers a lot of opportunities due to its size. The program being a bit smaller allows for a lot of malleability within the program, and flexibility /freedom for students schedules and time.

It was a great experience, however I do think it is geared towards people with little to no work experience and did not meet all my expectations of learning something new in a new work environment. The best part was being able to practice my Spanish with my host family.

I would recommend CIEE study abroad because it is an exciting and wholesome experience that you can only experience abroad. The Berlin program was well-organized and everyone working there was extremely friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed most of my courses there and have a better idea now of what I want to pursue. The campus is absolutely beautiful and I loved being here. I loved my classes and learned SO MUCH! The ciee staff are amazing, they made me feel at home while I was here, always wanting to talk to me and asking me if I was okay. The professors were amazing as well, I loved all my professors, they made all my classes so enjoyable. The whole experience in general was amazing!

The experience of studying abroad has been very enriching for me. I've loved being immersed within a culture that's different from my own and getting to learn more about how other individuals live. CIEE also provided lots of detailed pre-departure documents and resources within my CIEE portal, which made travelling to another country and living abroad a little easier.

I have grown so much as a person and will always be grateful for that opportunity. The only reason I did not put a 10 is because unfortunately for my major this semester proved to not be very helpful. I will have to do some catching up when I return to school, however for me this program was worth it.

This semester in CIEE Monteverde was quite frankly the best semester I've had yet. This program does an incredible job at teaching ecology in a fun, hands-on, and deeply meaningful way. During my 3 years of studying Biology in my home university, I never felt as connected to the topics and species I was learning about as I did while being here. Getting to see species with my own eyes and design projects on the topics and systems we discussed in class reinvigorated my love for ecology and helped me remember why I fell in love with this subject in the first place. Being surrounded by equally passionate ecology students and having the chance to share my excitement and love for biology made this experience even more meaningful, as I had never been in a space like that before. This program, though, would not be the same without its incredibly professors and staff, who always made us feel loved, cared for, and welcome. I will always treasure all of the laughs and good times I shared with the staff on campus.

CIEE Study Abroad has allowed me to experience connections with community members I usually wouldn't interact with! I've had a great time not only expanding my point of view outside of the United States but was also able to practice a language that is not native to me.

The program was very well organized and I learned a lot - I think the experiential parts of the Monteverde program are invaluable. The trips struck a really great balance between informative/academic and fun, and the internship has taught me a ton about farming and regenerative agriculture. They take great care of us here.

I had such an amazing time here in Costa Rica and I have learned so many things and gotten to have so many experiences here that I will remember forever. Monteverde is such a beautiful place and I will miss it a lot. The faculty and staff were also lovely.

It’s helped me meet some of my best-friends. CIEE is a remarkable program. However there course evaluation emails are to much. One email is fine but I get spammed with emails about course evaluation to many.

The staff here at CIEE Morocco are the most considerate and genuine people I have ever met. They want you to immerse yourself into the country, and even help you in the process of your own personal goals.

I never felt unsafe while alone in a different country because of CIEE staff. If anything were ever unsafe, like a violent protest a few weeks ago, we were immediately notified and kept updated as needed.

I really enjoyed this program and the people I met during my time here. The CIEE staff was always willing to help when an issue presented itself and they really cared for each of us exchange students.

The program staff was amazing and truly made me feel welcomed in a country I did not know the language or culture. I have made friends here that I know will continue to be my friends for years to come, thanks to the connections ciee opened up. The one thing I wish could have happened is more class experience with Japanese students; taking classes where host students were present in would have made this program perfect. Other than that, I would 100% recommend this program to others, and already have.

I never believed it would be possible to study abroad this early in my college career and I don't think it would have been possible if not for a program like CIEE. This being my first time traveling internationally and alone, CIEE provided me with the resources to establish myself in a new country while helping me learn to push my personal boundaries and be comfortable with the uncomfortable.

Loved my time abroad. Learned so much, was challenged in my Spanish speaking ability, and gained a sense of understanding for a new and different culture. Appreciated our weekend trips, the CIEE Santiago staff (shoutout to Will and Lucia!), and the clear care demonstrated for my cohort.

Overall, my program experience has been positive. I liked my instructors and the classes I took. However, I feel the course loads were a bit much for a six week program. Some administrative and organizational aspects I felt could be improved as well to make the student feel their needs are being met. On the other hand, all staff members of the program I participated in were friendly and great to talk to.

I enjoyed the classes I took and thought they were conducted well. In addition, I liked the excursions that were planned each Friday and felt that they covered a good variety of things I would have wanted to do.

My time with CIEE has been very excellent. I have enjoyed the program as a a whole and getting to know Seoul. The instructors and staff are very friendly. When I felt unsure or had a medical emergency I knew I could trust in them to ask for help when needed. I truly appreciate the staff very much during this program.

This was an amazing experience that was extremely comfortable. There was a lot of guidance while providing time for independent travel and exploration of the host country. While our particular program didn't have a host stay, we were still able to meet members of the community.

I loved the classes and how the program was run a lot. I only took a point off because before the program started and I was back in the states everything was very unclear on what the program would look like.

From an architectural student perspective, the program's affiliation with the School of IAAC is crucial and extremely beneficial for gaining experience in architecture and advanced innovative studies.

I think the program had a really good onboarding program, provided students with an amazing support system, and did a great job of providing us with activities to fully integrate ourselves into the city. I also think the overall younger support staff (student-assistants in particular) were able to give us amazing recommendations that really allowed me to enjoy my time here outside of the classroom as well.

I truly loved my experience in this program. Although the courses were intensive, they were challenging in the best way and truly opened my eyes to the different systems of health that the world can have. Our professors were so kind and passionate about teaching us; the coordinators of the program were so sweet and helpful. I also had more free time than I expected which was nice, and I had the opportunity to leave Buenos Aires multiple times which was refreshing. Thanks to everyone for a great two months!

Through the Frederick Douglass O'Connell Global Internship, I have been able to expand my skills and knowledge within Sociology and research by studying how Irish Society operates and also critically analyzing policies and the application of data in order to critique and improve it. I have also been able to explore a culture that is vastly different from my own, forcing me to adapt and be comfortable with new traditions and customs. I believe that I am a better version of myself due to CIEE and everything I have been blessed to experience within the program. Every single employee and person here in Costa Rica has been so warm and welcoming! The food and service were amazing and in addition I felt very safe and every trip was very organized throughout the entire trip!

I would be very likely to recommend CIEE Study Abroad to another student or friend. Although my time with CIEE Monteverde was short (3 weeks for J-Term), I have loved my time here and all the people I have met, and I could not have asked for anything else in a study abroad program.

I think the program with CIEE is a good experience to meet people from around the country. It’s nice to meet people who you would have never met before, and all have similar academic and career goals as yourself.

It was a wonderful experience!! And my Chinese teacher really helped me improve my Chinese. Other than academics, the program did a great job of including cultural experiences throughout the semester.

Studying abroad in Spain is a great opportunity to meet new people, learn in a different language, and travel around Europe. CIEE was very organized with travel trips and offered a lot of class options.

CIEE allowed me to study abroad at the university I preferred. They were extremely flexible with my situation as well and were able to help me fulfill my desire to study abroad while also giving the students many opportunities to explore the country that we were traveling in.

You get to learn about yourself in ways you didn’t think were possible before. So much more than just experiencing another culture, the friends and relationships I have fostered during my time abroad has been amazing.

CIEE is a well-thought-out passage for students to experience diverse cultures and people who approach life differently than what they're accustomed to. CIEE makes a noticeable effort to ensure that the students studying abroad are engaged and immersed in the new environment that they're now immersed in. Ensuring that the students are fully aware and engaged with the changed and new environment around them is essential to creating the most fulfilling and transformative experience. With all the changes to the student's physical and social environment, there warrants an opportunity to expand on the grace granted to the student's physical well-being while embarking on such a transformative experience. When entering a new environment our bodies go through a variety of changes that if not nurtured properly can lead to greater physical and emotional issues down the road. CIEE's' attendance policy for a class is warranted to ensure they're engaged but is unforgiving if the student experiences any health complications

I think CIEE does a great job with providing students with help and activities, but I wish it was more integrated with other Spanish students. I thought I'd be taking classes with local students as well. Regardless I wish there was more cultural/social integration. This is one of the only things that I wish was different.

I had such an incredible experience with CIEE! Between the program coordinators and instructors, easy application process, and communication, I was very happy with my experience with the program in Spain.

I thought the program was incredibly well run and versatile. Our advisors were super helpful and so passionate about what they do. Also, the pairing with host families was so well run. I loved the program!

I loved the activity where we had to go out in the street and speak with people in Arabic; it really helped me grow.

CIEE expertly provides all the information you can need for study abroad students. They actively put on engaging trips and activities throughout the semester for students. They are always willing to help and are always kind and friendly.

CIEE provided so many opportunities for us to explore Prague and become immersed into Czech culture. Moreover, they provided us opportunities to explore neighboring cities and countries -- something I was able to take advantage of and enjoy thoroughly.

It was a lot of fun, but the curriculum could get chaotic sometimes because we travel around a lot and some people might not be prepared to deal with that, especially if they get car sick a lot. It could also get very rainy and it is not cheep or easy to travel around the country on your own. Students should probably be mentally prepared for this before they come.

I would recommend CIEE Study Abroad, and more specifically CIEE Study Abroad in Botswana. Overall, I really enjoyed my time in this program, and am so grateful for all of the experiences I have had, and all that I have learned.

Likely because of the staff and teachers all are very welcoming and Knowledgable on the subjects that they teach. I would say it is hard adjusting to different countries multiple times but is a cool expirience.

Amazing program every which way. Consistent schedule and routine. Free Friday’s to be able to travel on weekends. Class Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and Wednesday student life & involvement events. Met great people and went to amazing sites.

Studying abroad was absolutely life changing. Especially with CIEE because I felt cared for. At every step of the way faculty of CIEE expressed diligence, organization, and overall concern for our well being. I am so satisfied with this program and my parents were as well.

I would definitely refer a peer or friend to study abroad in CIEE's Shanghai program. The teachers and staff are so amazing. The class is very challenging, but the memories and the people I meet here make it worth it.

My experience with CIEE was overall very positive. The program was well run, the CIEE facilities in both Ireland and South Africa were excellent, and we had the opportunity to work with high quality staff and instructors.

I would recommend it to a friend. The staff took care of a lot of logistics. I like that we had excursions planned. And that the accomodations were very nice and up to my standards. I liked my internship placement as well. I had difficulty being placed but it worked out in the end.

I really enjoy the the program with CIEE and how well it was organized: from daily activities, scheduling, class calendar, and day trips. I also liked the open communication between the staff and students.

It was a fantastic experience. There was a good blend of school and free time, and the CIEE team had a good blend of providing opportunities to us while not breathing down our backs. The extracurriculars were optional and frequent, which was nice as well because you could chose the activities you were most interested in.

I have loved my experience with CIEE in Shanghai, China. CIEE has gone above and beyond making sure each student is comfortable yet challenged when it comes to experiencing culture, food, and education.

I liked that cultural activities were embedded into the schedule of the duration I was in my country. i liked the resources CIEE offered, for example I broke my phone and a CIEE staff helped me get it fixed.

I would recommend the program to anyone because it is an incredible way to immerse yourself in healthcare systems, learn a n ew culture, and live in a new culture. It has been the best summer of my life.

I really enjoyed my time here! The program coordinators made it extremely easy to adjust to the program and Morocco itself. They also coordinated so many cultural activities and visits to other cities and museums, which I appreciated since it made it feel like my time was well spent.

Everyone involved in the program are truly such kinds souls and always helped whenever I needed it. The teachers offered extra tutoring hours at their own expense and the cultural peers/staff were amazing people. The program improved my language skills and educated me so much on a different culture which aids in my worldview and my ability to connect with others around the world.

Tremendous staff. Environment is like none other and they accommodate well. For Seville, the city has been tremendous and CIEE gives you a proper introduction to this magnificent city. Whether an intern or a student during one of the sessions, you can get along with everyone and overcome the anxieties of a new city

CIEE Study Abroad has been a very fun experience in terms or the city, the people I’ve met, and the courses I’ve taken. Everyone has been very kind and amenable and there was a lot of community building activities to help foster friendships among peers while also learning about the city and culture we are in. My anxieties about being in a foreign place with strangers were blown away immediately, and I will cherish the memories and friends I’ve made. Overall, I would recommend CIEE Study Abroad and hope my friend or peer has as great an experience as I did.

I would recommend CIEE becasue I liked the small size of the program in Dublin, Ireland, how everyone is from everywhere, the only thing I could say is to maybe include lunch from the cafeteria at school.

I enjoyed the extra excursions that were organized through CIEE, like zip lining and visiting El Escorial. These are trips that I might not have taken/organized for myself, but they were very enriching experiences.

I would recommend this campus because it is green and lush and beautiful. The library is a great place to relax and learn and let your mind be creative. The kitchen staff are the kindest people. The front desk people are supportive and patient.

From the moment you are accepted you are welcomed to the program, helped throughout the pre-departure process, and welcomed to Korea. I’ve met some amazing people, done incredible things, and learned lots!

I would recommend the CIEE study abroad to a friend because it’s structured to bring people together which I enjoy a lot. I wanted to study abroad to meet new people and explore the city and the activities we go on allow both of those things.

The program itself had a lot of events and different options to reach out and meet other people that I don’t think other programs have. There were opportunities to do community and volunteer service actives which other programs do not offer either.

I think having a company like CIEE was extremally helpful and having the support of the 선생님s while we were here was huge. We got to go on cool adventures and had a lot of support from the Seoul CIEE staff.

I had the best experience with my host family, friends, traveling and living in Spain. CIEE was the perfect program to experience as much as Spain has to offer, from excursions, to meeting with Spaniards, to interesting classes. I cannot say enough good things about this program! Gracia por todo!

The CIEE Seville program has had a huge impact on my experience here. I mean, I can't imagine coming to Sevilla without doing it through CIEE. I mean, they don't just facilitate your paperwork and offer classes, but they also really try to help you integrate into the city. I've met other erasmus students in classes and just out and about, and I don't think they have had the same experience because they did not have someone like CIEE helping them along the way. 100% recommend to anyone and everyone!

I absolutely loved my experience with CIEE Amman. Every single element of the program, from the cultural activities to the classes, were informative and engaging. Most of all, the caliber of teaching is outstanding and I have learned so much in all of my classes, especially my Arabic language classes. Additionally, I have been fortunate to be paired with an amazing host family who have treated me like one of their own and helped me throughout my time here.

I really loved the program and the staff associated with it; I found the staff to be really helpful, caring, and attentive to our needs. Also, the activities (i.e., day trips, academic/advising meetings, and social gatherings) were all very helpful/fun.

I would be likely to refer this program to a friend because of the beautiful location and the wildlife. I did not like the lack of full-body mirrors in the houses, the pillows were difficult to sleep on.

The CIEE student life community, faculty, and staff in Berlin, Germany are undoubtedly some of the most helpful, charismatic, and supportive people I've ever had the opportunity to grow with and learn from.

I can't speak on behalf of other programs but CIEE Monteverde was a great experience for me. There were a few issues with communication on the administrative level but the professors and my peers were amazing and I loved my time here and all our trips as well as academic content.

CIEE is a great way to create new experiences while also having guidance on how to do so. Joining their program is a great way to explore the opportunities of life while still having support to lean on.

I think that CIEE seville in particular is a program that cares for its students, plans fun events, and makes sure that everyone is succeeding in their time during Study Abroad. I feel lucky to be in the program that I am in!

CIEE does a great job connecting students to the locality through cuisine, cultural events, and places to visit (museums, historical centers, popular neighborhoods, etc). Especially in Singapore, I felt that the staff was genuinely interested in my needs and who I was as a person.

CIEE has been lifechanging for me and has allowed me to live once in a lifetime experiences. The staff and professors care to give us the best experience while abroad and help in every way to make the transition swift and comfortable.

CIEE is extremely organized and truly cares for their students. Any time I've reached out for help, multiple people have asked about my well-being and done whatever they can to help me resolve the situation I'm in.

I really enjoyed my time at CIEE. The only thing is that I wish we went to more places through the program and I feel like we sometimes paid too much money towards the cafe or the laundry. I wish we had set prices beforehand so we knew how much money we should bring abroad.

The CIEE Open Campus Block in Copenhagen, Denmark program has been one of the most influential experiences! It builds independence, communication skills, helps you understand your priorities and builds so much global competence.

CIEE Buenos Aires is one of the best experiences that I have ever been apart of Martina & Mariano & Carolina provided one heck of an Argentinean experience. They really look out for you with hte best intentions and give you everything you need to be a Porteño. Salute to everyone involved in the planning. I will never forget this journey. I genuinely recommend this program to any and everyone looking to study abroad.

I really liked how much CIEE allows you to grow as a student and a person. They give you the opportunity to explore the city and the world. I really like the open block campus program and how it allows you to go to multiple locations.

I absolutely loved my time at the CIEE Monteverde campus and would recommend it to anyone. The administrators, teachers, and all staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I never once felt unsafe in town. There is almost always an activity going on on campus and I was never bored.

I thought the CIEE staff and resources in Denmark were incredible. I found it to be an expensive program, but given the housing (Nido) and the support given by the staff and canvas page-- it was very worth it.

Overall Educational Experience: During my time abroad, I spent 6 weeks at Yonsei University. The professors spoke Korean and English equally and were very flexible with the 6 week semester. There were several libraries/study areas around the campus and the majority of textbooks/ebooks were free. Host Country Program Administration: Yonsei and CIEE staff could be found quite easily. CIEE staff had their own office at Yonsei University and Yonsei staff was also on duty- day and night at the dormitory. All of these staff members were helpful and would find the answer to questions that would arise. What to do for fun? CIEE had planned out several activities and excursions for us each week. Aside from this, you will have plenty of time to adventure out on your own/with friends. Housing: I will note that CIEE has nothing to do with how clean the dormitories are. I resided in a single-room dorm, which was smaller than expected but worked for me. Within my room, I had a twin bed, which was very, very hard and left my back very sore. After some time, my back adjusted and I got used to it. There was a desk with plenty of shelf room and a wardrobe closet, again, with plenty of room. A plus of the single room is that you get a mini fridge which I appreciated greatly. The bathroom is a wet bathroom, so I would advise you to wear sandals when you step into it, and also to keep your feet clean. The shower was always nice and hot. The cleanliness of the room was decent, but not thorough. We were told to clean our rooms before we left, and I suspect that is what the last students did, so some areas were missed. Food: At the entry-level of the dormitory, there was a convenience store filled with goodies and 3 restaurants. I believe one was a burger place, another was a pork cutler place, and another was a soup place. I really enjoyed the burger place. I recommend the Western burger. If none of those suit your appetite, there is a number of convenience stores and restaurants on campus. Let's not forget that you can find many more restaurants and grocery stores just across the street. Social/Cultural Integration: I was a guest, and my country was not my host. This means, just because I came to visit, it does not make them my host. I was to remain aware of my actions because one thing that is considered normal in my country, may come off as rude in another. I educated myself on the social etiquette of the country I was visiting beforehand. You do not want to stand out. You want to blend in, and because I educated myself, I did blend in quite nicely. Aside from this, while the language barrier did cause some problems as I am not fluent, I did not worry too much as many places had kiosks that had an English option- this made purchasing items a breeze. On top of this, as noted above, CIEE provided many activities and excursions that allowed students to work together and encouraged them to interact with the locals and explore the area. Healthcare: I became ill during my study abroad, and with South Korea's guidelines for COVID, I had to be tested. I first emailed a CIEE staff member asking for advice. She directed me to the on-campus clinic, where I was seen, asked about my symptoms, and tested for COVID, all for free. There were some language barrier problems, but it was sorted out. I was given 3 types of medication pills and was told how to take them. I paid for those there and went on my way. I cannot compare this clinic to my home clinic at my University as I've only been once and that was to get an ice pack, but what I do know, is that there is no fee when you visit my University's clinic as it is already paid for when you paid toward your tuition. Safety: Yonsei University seemed like a very safe place, even when it's in the heart of a large and busy city. South Korea is a safe place in general, so I was never worried. In the dormitory, there was always a Yonsei staff member in the lobby to watch those who enter and leave. There was only one way to enter the area that takes you to the stairs/elevators, and you could only enter this area after your temperature was checked and your card was swiped. Separate floors separated the sexes. There were never males and females residing on the same floor. And to enter your room, you would have to tap your key card (kind of like a hotel). There is no jaywalking whatsoever. There are many safe places to cross at, so never attempt to do so elsewhere because while the city is relatively safe, drivers can be careless. Keep an eye out for bicycles and motorbikes of any kind. They WILL drive them on the sidewalk where people walk, so be aware of your surroundings. I have even seen them drive them on the pedestrian crosswalks. They're not supposed to, but again, you must remain aware. How did I afford it? Apply for scholarships!!! The sooner you do it, the better because it is a process. Look into your school and program resources, they will usually have a list of scholarships that will help you. Your GPA not high? Do not let that stop you! Not all scholarships look at GPA. The scholarship that allowed me to study abroad is the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship. This scholarship is exclusive to students who receive the Pell Grant. The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship gives a voice to those who have been underrepresented: The minority, the disabled, first-generation college students, etc. Gilman looks at what makes you unique and what makes you do what you do. They want to know what obstacles you have overcome. This is the scholarship that wants to hear how you have blossomed and wants to be the one to give you that extra push. Money should never stop a student from learning. If you have any questions about this scholarship or any others, please get with your college/university as they can assist you with this. Would I do it again? Absolutely. It was definitely worthwhile. While the trip cost a pretty penny, the impact on my character and life is priceless. Tip: Save your receipts and carry your passport everywhere with you! Many stores offer tax-free goods if you purchase so much (I think it is over 25,000 won?), and they will need your passport to give you that discount. If they do not offer it, save your receipts and it can be done at the airport. This is mainly for items you plan to take back home: clothing, shoes, and gifts.

CIEE Monteverde has created such an amazing community. I loved how everyone in the program is from a different place and has a different background, yet leaving here it feels like I have known my peers for forever. I cannot stress how much fun I have had with my peers but also with the staff here. They go above and beyond to get to know each student individually and create a personal connection with everyone here. I am leaving this experience with dozens of new friends across the country and am already planning on visiting them in the near future!

I loved my experience with CIEE study abroad in Sevilla. I thought I learned an immense amount, and the faculty and staff were very helpful and accommodating the entire time. I lost an item at the hotel in Granada, and Olga and Abraham were very kind in helping me contact the hotel, etc. The instructors and tour guides were excellent. I participated in all of the activities offered, which I found to be interesting and allowed me to do a lot of the things I planned to do without having to find a time or pay. I loved the excursion to Granada. Most importantly, the program was very well organized. Communication between instructors, directors, and students was clear. CIEE planned everything out very well, and I was never bored. I would highly recommend this program and am very grateful for my experience.

I would be likely to recommend CIEE to a peer because I have been on two different interims and I have had a great experience on both of the trips. I have met many different people, explored fun places, and taken unique classes.

CIEE WAS THERE. If at any point during the semester I was confused, had questions, needed support, anything, CIEE was there! More importantly, the support from all the staff truly helps! Personally, I felt it comforting in knowing I had my 선생님s to rely on. Navigating a new country was scary but with the help of the program, we were guided, taught, immersed and were given the opportunity to travel Korea and learn! While speaking to other Yonsei study abroad students, when I would mention my program, they would know exactly what program I was talking about the benefits of utilizing CIEE. I can't stress enough how prepared, and welcomed I felt by CIEE in arriving to and living in Seoul. I can confidently say that if it weren't for CIEE and the staff, I would not have experienced Korea in the way that I did. I am forever grateful for CIEE.

I would recommend CIEE Study Abroad to a friend or peer because the entire staff was extremely helpful and accommodating to any issues or concerns I had. Also, since classes from UvA and their different structures were hard for me to adjust to, CIEE offered amazing classes with a structure I'm more familiar with and one that was more effective for my learning style. CIEE was also a very helpful resource when I was struggling with test taking at UvA and the lack of academic accommodations they were able to offer, as they differed a lot from what I am used to at my home university.

The CIEE Language + Culture in Rabat, Morocco program is immersive, engaging, and dynamic in ways I was not expecting. The empathy and caring from the team was a gift to be around and made my ability to be here that much easier.

I think the CIEE Arts + Sciences in Seoul, South Korea program made studying abroad fun and gave me many ways to meet people and explore Seoul. The combination of structure and ease of access makes for a good experience.

I think there's problems here and there with cleanliness of dorms and location choices, but overall I had a very positive experience. The staff and program as a whole I felt was a very worthwhile opportunity.

The program advisors are so attentive and have always advocated for me. The CIEE center is beautiful and the events are plentiful and always well done. I love how there's no shame in learning the local language with them. Also -- all of guides are like my besties! love CIEE

I would be delighted to recommend CIEE to multiple peers as I believe this program is incredibly helpful and has a ton of kind people. The program offers amazing staff that remembers your name along with the fact that they will listen to you when needed. Apart from that, CIEE has an amazing network that can provide you with trips to places within your host country for free which can include things such as overnight trips at hotels, with fully paid accommodation, transportation, and food. Along with CIEE having an amazing connection with their host university to the point that CIEE students get guaranteed housing and courses. I know many people from other programs who get no support from their advisors in all aspects, no guaranteed housing to the point where they have to go on Airbnb and find off campus housing. Along with no guarantee of getting classes they want, or being able to get classes that transfer back to their classes.

I think CIEE does a great job at getting students immersed in the culture of the country they are studying in. The staff is super helpful, the activities esencial in getting to know others, and it is just a great program overall!

CIEE has allowed me to study in another country and has allowed me to learn so much about the culture of Spain. I have been able to meet so many new people and I have also been able to travel all around Southern Spain with CIEE. The experience was incredible and I now have memories and experiences that will last a life time.
