CIEE Arts and Sciences (Hayang University) in Seoul, Korea

I think it's a very well rounded program with an emphasis on cultural learning, which I think is a highlight for any study abroad program. Since I had such a positive experience, I would recommend it to anyone planning to study abroad.

For the South Korean program, they incorporated many excursions that were culturally and historically relevant to Korea and interesting to the students. They were also really supportive and friendly to the students.

CIEE study abroad made my experience structured and fun. The activities, volunteer opportunities, and cultural experiences provided by the program helped me make friends easily and gave me a network of people to connect with immediately. I would not have come here with any other program.

I really enjoyed this program and the people I met during my time here. The CIEE staff was always willing to help when an issue presented itself and they really cared for each of us exchange students.

My time with CIEE has been very excellent. I have enjoyed the program as a a whole and getting to know Seoul. The instructors and staff are very friendly. When I felt unsure or had a medical emergency I knew I could trust in them to ask for help when needed. I truly appreciate the staff very much during this program.

CIEE allowed me to study abroad at the university I preferred. They were extremely flexible with my situation as well and were able to help me fulfill my desire to study abroad while also giving the students many opportunities to explore the country that we were traveling in.

I would be likely to recommend CIEE Study Abroad because the stuff is personable, friendly, helpful, and caring. From the moment you are accepted you are welcomed to the program, helped throughout the pre-departure process, and welcomed to Korea. The program itself had a lot of events and different options to reach out and meet other people that I don’t think other programs have. There were opportunities to do community and volunteer service actives which other programs do not offer either.

I think having a company like CIEE was extremally helpful and having the support of the 선생님s while we were here was huge. We got to go on cool adventures and had a lot of support from the Seoul CIEE staff.

CIEE WAS THERE. If at any point during the semester I was confused, had questions, needed support, anything, CIEE was there! More importantly, the support from all the staff truly helps! Personally, I felt it comforting in knowing I had my 선생님s to rely on. Navigating a new country was scary but with the help of the program, we were guided, taught, immersed and were given the opportunity to travel Korea and learn! While speaking to other Yonsei study abroad students, when I would mention my program, they would know exactly what program I was talking about the benefits of utilizing CIEE. I can't stress enough how prepared, and welcomed I felt by CIEE in arriving to and living in Seoul. I can confidently say that if it weren't for CIEE and the staff, I would not have experienced Korea in the way that I did. I am forever grateful for CIEE.

I think the CIEE Arts + Sciences in Seoul, South Korea program made studying abroad fun and gave me many ways to meet people and explore Seoul. The combination of structure and ease of access makes for a good experience.

I would be delighted to recommend CIEE to multiple peers as I believe this program is incredibly helpful and has a ton of kind people. The program offers amazing staff that remembers your name along with the fact that they will listen to you when needed. Apart from that, CIEE has an amazing network that can provide you with trips to places within your host country for free which can include things such as overnight trips at hotels, with fully paid accommodation, transportation, and food. Along with CIEE having an amazing connection with their host university to the point that CIEE students get guaranteed housing and courses. I know many people from other programs who get no support from their advisors in all aspects, no guaranteed housing to the point where they have to go on Airbnb and find off campus housing. Along with no guarantee of getting classes they want, or being able to get classes that transfer back to their classes.

I never understood how studying abroad could change someone's life until I experienced it myself. I am not necessarily a new person, but I now have more insight into how to live my life based on the different cultures I am exposed to and how to interact with people respectfully. Through the CIEE course Intercultural Communications Leadership, I reflected on my responsibility as a visitor to South Korea. I also made life-long friends through the program that taught me the importance of inner peace, love, and friendship. I would have studied abroad no matter what, but all these new experiences and knowledge would not have been as meaningful if I had not gone with CIEE.

I think there has been a lot of aid provided to students, which I am very appreciative of. However, I think the help and information provided to students during the month leading up to study abroad were a little lacking; the help and information we received once we actually arrived on site (quarantine, housing, activities, events, etc.) were substantial and very helpful, though.

CIEE made my trip to Seoul super accessible and made it possible to connect with people immediately before and upon arrival. I truly appreciate all of the hard work the staff put in to my stay as easy and memorable as possible. Thank you so much for an amazing semester!

I was very satisfied with this program! Some of the covid-19 situations were difficult to deal with and for the most part they were handled well.I loved the organization, it makes it great for a first time traveler!

I'd recommend CIEE because of the structure it provides students when studying abroad, especially knowing you have a staff advocating for you in the host country. I'd also recommend CIEE for the program/itinerary it includes when studying abroad -- the experiences/activities can be very educational and fun.
