A Once-in-a -Lifetime Opportunity I Never Through I'd Have

June 15, 2026by: Christina Gallagher

Program: CIEE Semester in Seville

5

Studying abroad in Seville, Spain, was one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career. As a low-income college student, I never thought studying abroad would be possible for me, even though spending a semester in Spain had been a dream of mine since the beginning my freshman year of high school. Before coming to college, opportunities like this felt completely out of reach. Thanks to scholarships, financial aid, and support from my university and CIEE, I was able to turn that dream into reality. Living in a homestay was one of the highlights of my experience. It gave me the opportunity to experience Spanish culture firsthand, improve my Spanish skills, and learn what daily life in Spain is really like. The academics were engaging, and the support provided by CIEE was excellent from the application through the end of the program. One challenge I faced was healthcare, since I receive a monthly medication. It was little difficult to make sure I had enough before leaving, and I ended up needing to get a dose while abroad and had to pay for it out of pocket. This created some additional stress, but the staff were supportive whenever I needed help navigating challenges like this. I also found making friends difficult at times, but this is something I have always struggled with. Even so, I was able to form a meaningful friendship during my semester abroad. Overall, studying in Seville helped me grow academically, personally, and culturally. One finally piece of advice: If you are currently an undergraduate student who thinks studying abroad is financially our of reach., don't count yourself out. I once felt the same way and I encourage you to explore your opinions. I never thought I would have the chance to do something like this, and it ended up being one of the best experiences of my life.

Insightful Courses and Guided Trips

June 10, 2026by: Gilliana R.

Program: CIEE Semester in Milan, Italy

5

I would recommend this to a friend because the courses were very insightful and I loved that we got to go on guided trips to places I otherwise would not have known of. And because the class size was small, I got to connect with my peers a lot more.

Accessible Way to Step Outside Comfort Zone

June 09, 2026by: Nathan Y.

Program: CIEE Semester in Seoul, South Korea

5

I think that this program is an accessible way for students to venture outside of their comfort zone in both their taste pallet and social interactions. In this program you will learn to make friends with people you might not encounter on a day to day basis.

Well-Structured with Helpful Orientation

June 03, 2026by: Adriana L.

Program: CIEE Semester in Seoul, South Korea

5

Program is well structured and the pre orientation is super helpful, specially because going to a new country can feel overwhelming so the guide made it easier. The staff is very attentive to our needs and they host events and day trips to help us be involved in our new city

Berlin Staff Is Phenomenal

May 06, 2026by: Daniel A.

Program: CIEE Open Campus Block in Berlin, Germany

5

Literally everything about CIEE and Berlin specifically have been amazing. Eric, Mitchell, Kristen, and literally everyone else are so friendly and knowledgable, helping with so many problems constantly and setting up events. When you walk through the building and see a staff member they know your name and say hello. The building itself is really nice and clean, and the classes and everything about CIEE really made my personal study abroad as good as I feel it could be. Thanks again!

This program was spectacular; every aspect was flawless and unforgettable. The program itself was life changing. The opportunities to explore the country through weekends and field trips were splendid and the classes were interesting and fun.

Exceptional London Staff Support

May 04, 2026by: Hailey D.

Program: CIEE Open Campus Block in London, England

5

I would 100% recommend CIEE Study Abroad. I stayed in London for all 3 of my blocks, and the staff could not have been more helpful and supportive throughout my time here. They have helped me grow as a student, and as a person in the last 4 months, and I have found a city that I have fallen in love with. The planned events were always perfectly timed with the seasons and had a variety to choose from every block. I plan on returning in spring of 2027 through CIEE again!

Italy Explored Through CIEE Activities

May 02, 2026by: Ilana M.

Program: CIEE Semester in Milan, Italy

5

CIEE has given me the opportunity to explore Italy in a way that would not have been possible without their staff or weekly extracurricular activities. I was also very pleased with the coursework and the overall course load that ensured I wasn't drowning to get things done.

April 30, 2026by: Grace B.

Program: CIEE Semester in Florence, Italy

5

I absolutely loved CIEE! I would recommend them because they are extremely supportive, helpful, and kind. They offer a ton of opportunities for students to dive into that they would never have access to at home. CIEE helps students explore a new culture and community while making them feel at home!

Great Professors and Sevilla Activities

April 29, 2026by: Jose C.

Program: CIEE Business + Society in Seville, Spain

5

The professors are really good to teach the classes and as persons, Sevilla is a beautiful place, all the activities CIEE has as trips, sports, and learning more about the community and culture of Sevilla. That is why I would recommend CIEE.

Built-In Community and Mentor-Like Teachers

April 27, 2026by: Miranda M.

Program: CIEE Language + Culture in Toulouse, France

4

Study abroad in general is a life-changing experience, but CIEE has a built-in community that you can always run back to. The teachers are extremely passionate and kind, and they feel a little more like friends than teachers. Being forced to be in class with the same few people creates relationships fast, and the classes feel more like friendly hangouts than classes. I love the CIEE activities as they gave me experiences I wouldn't have had on my own. CIEE also has scholarships available that make it possible to have the study abroad experience, and I am extremely grateful for receiving those scholarships.

Life-Changing Self-Development Through CIEE

April 27, 2026by: Mariella M.

Program: CIEE Business + Culture in Toulouse, France

5

Study abroad itself is a lifechanging experience, and one that I think everyone should experience due to the self-development that you will experience. I would recommend my friend to do it specifically with CIEE because of how helpful they are in terms of adaptations, courses, and any problems that may arise.

Balanced Academics and Exploration

April 20, 2026by: Christina G.

Program: CIEE Semester in Seville

5

I would highly recommend CIEE Study Abroad to a friend or a peer because it has been an incredibly valuable and rewarding experience for me. The program provided a great balance between academics and cultural immersion, allowing me to grow both personally and academically. Living with a host family has allowed me to practice my Spanish daily and experience the culture in a more authentic and personal way. I also really appreciate how supportive and available the CIEE staff are. Overall, this experience has helped me become more independent, confident, and open-minded.

Amazing but Feels Very Structured

March 25, 2026by: Madeleine B.

Program: CIEE Open Campus Block in Buenos Aires

5

I would 100% recommend CIEE study abroad to a friend or peer I had an amazing time and grew so much. The only disclaimer I would give is that it is very structured and feels like a school program (which it is ofc) but if you’re looking for a more independent living abroad experience it could be slightly different than expected

Structured Program for the Right Person

March 24, 2026by: Lily B.

Program: CIEE Tropical Ecology + Conservation in Monteverde

4

I think this is a great program for a specific type of person, who wants a little more of a specific program than many others, as well as providing more guidance. I was very drawn to it because of the specific ecology focus that I didn't see many other places.

Growth Beyond Academics and Internships

March 24, 2026by: Mary M.

Program: CIEE Semester in Merida, Mexico

4

CIEE develops a person in many areas of life, not only specific to their academic advancement. I've learned to represent myself in a professional setting better as well as observe the importance of intercultural AND intracultural communication alongside my peers.

Three Months of Great Experiences

March 24, 2026by: Adison B.

Program: CIEE Semester in Amsterdam, Netherlands

5

I would recommend CIEE Study Abroad to a friend easily. I had such a great time, with my peers and teachers throughout these three months. I was always able to ask a CIEE staff member any questions and they would help me immediately. I felt straight at home when arriving, and I believe many people I recommend will feel the same.

Helpful Staff, Easy Country Transition

March 23, 2026by: Jasmine N.

Program: CIEE Semester in Seoul, South Korea

5

I would likely recommend CIEE study abroad to a friend because all the staff in the program were very helpful and made it easy to transition to a different country's environment. I was also able to explore all the places that I wanted to while taking classes and doing an internship, which was amazing!

What inspired you to travel abroad?

When looking up CIEE online, the mission and values resonated with me. Inclusiveness and problem-solving are very important when you want to work in international environments. Being able to contribute to that mission was a real driver for me to apply. Also, the job description of Center Director is amazing and seems to fit my generalist profile quite well.

What inspired you to travel abroad?

My passion as a study abroad student was to "change the world," but I have come to learn that "building bridges across cultures" is a more empathic way to approach effective change. At CIEE, I have been privileged to work with young people to create high-impact cultural programming that inspires our participants to foster change.

My German language courses in high school first lit a spark in me to travel internationally. While I had traveled to many states within the U.S, I hadn't left the continent yet. In my junior year of college, I jumped at the opportunity to embark on a short-term study abroad trip to Florence, Italy.

I wanted to go abroad to not only build a solid foundation in my target language, but to also meet and connect with people from an Arabic-speaking region of the world. I wanted to gain a new perspective on my home country, my host country, myself, and to become more open-minded and self-sufficient in the process. Most importantly, however, I wanted to be an active participant, rather than a spectator, in a culture vastly different than my own.

I was inspired to go abroad after attending a study abroad fair at my university. I always knew studying abroad was an option, but I had always kind of looked past it, thinking it was too expensive or just not possible for me. But in my second year of college I walked through the study abroad fair and after talking to some of the representatives of different programs, I realized I needed to be a part of the experience. I had never left the United States and I knew I wanted to change that.

Studying abroad in Italy has been a dream of mine for a very long time. I still remember being in high school telling my parents about how when I get to college I would spend a semester as soon as possible abroad in Italy. Everyone saw it as this silly pipe dream of mine, but I was serious. When the fall semester of my sophomore year rolled around, I was determined to make this ambitious dream of mine come true. I have always been fascinated with Italy's rich history and culture and to get to experience that for the very first time for such a long period of time was an idea so surreal to me.
