Absolute Internship Experience
April 30, 2025by: Emily L - ChinaAbsolute Internship gave me the opportunity to gain meaningful international work experience in a supportive and well-structured environment. The support and structure of the program made the transition smooth and the experience rewarding. The program not only helped me apply what I have learned academically to real-world projects, but also broaden my global perspective. It’s a transformative experience that I would highly recommend to any student looking to both growing personally and professionally, as well as explore career paths globally.
Great Way to Practice Your Spanish
September 30, 2024by: Corey G.It was a great experience, however I do think it is geared towards people with little to no work experience and did not meet all my expectations of learning something new in a new work environment. The best part was being able to practice my Spanish with my host family.
Great Internship
September 23, 2024by: Birdie B.CIEE provided me with a great internship site, a clean and nice apartment in a good neighborhood, and gave me roommates who shared similar interests. The staff was extremely kind and helped me whenever I needed, and were good about checking in with me about my experiences
Great Educational Internship!
July 26, 2024by: Erin L - CanadaI participated in the Absolute Internship virtually and it was a very insightful experience where I gained transferable communication and research skills in the venture capital field. My program coordinator was very helpful in connecting me with my internship mentor and provided support and guidance throughout the start of my journey. Thanks Absolute Internship for an excellent experience I'll take with me down the road!
Loved my accommodation and coordinator
May 26, 2023by: Emily Sanchez - United StatesDuring the placement process, The Intern Group only had one mechanical engineering option to offer me at a company based in Colombia and had to switch to a fully remote position. The situation was unfortunate because of the time zone differences and the workload was very independent. This wasn’t the internship I hoped for but it definitely challenged me professionally. The people that arrived the same time as I did + the accommodation made the whole experience worthwhile. Our experience coordinator, Erika, was very welcoming and helpful with everything we needed. We would have weekly meet ups to socialize and do fun activities together. The accommodation is full of other friendly students/travelers and I felt very safe, it’s comparable to a single dorm room.
Thank you for sharing your candid experience! We are glad that you have had an enriching experience overall and we look forward to seeing where your career takes you, Emily
The staff and program as a whole was a worthwhile opportunity
December 12, 2022by: Miles G.I think there's problems here and there with cleanliness of dorms and location choices, but overall I had a very positive experience. The staff and program as a whole I felt was a very worthwhile opportunity.
We finally made it!
September 05, 2022by: Diane Chung - CanadaMeiji Internships has definitely opened many new doors for my future career path. Throughout the pandemic this was one big headache for me, but Meiji were always informative and responsive throughout. Even before I arrived in Hong Kong, I knew I could count on them. Once I got the good news I could actually travel to Hong Kong, I wasted no more time and got on the plane as soon as possible. Again, I cant thank Meiji enough for the smoothness of their organisation during this hectic time. Once I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms and given the internship of a lifetime. I took a lot away form this internship and built a substantial network of key contacts. I’m looking forward to the future.
Just what I needed
September 02, 2022by: Jonathan Weaver - United KingdomThe whole reason I wanted to intern in Asia was for the purpose of personal growth. It’s a place that requires a lot of perseverance and willingness to adapt, while also being the fastest growing continent in the world in terms of business. I took a specific interest in Hong Kong for the many business opportunities that can be found there, as well as the level of English proficiency that the vast majority of the population has. During my internship I worked within a small team, which really allowed me to work closely with my colleagues. Because of this they were able to teach me a lot, and I was properly involved in a number of important projects. This internship gave me the insight I needed to scope out the business world of Hong Kong, and also the confidence to handle myself in places far different to my home country.
Hong Kong internship review
September 02, 2022by: Massimo Valentino - ItalyMeiji were quick when responding to questions, and always gave the accurate information. They have very good company partners so I enjoyed working with the company. I think that Meiji Internships is a top rated organisation, so I would recommend it.
Great time in Hong Kong
August 31, 2022by: Tyler Curry - United StatesI went to Hong Kong for an internship to achieve the last of my university credits. Honestly I thought it was going to be a regrettable experience since I didn’t know the language, nor know anybody in Hong Kong. But actually it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. The work was engaging and the people I worked with were always accommodating to my questions and opinions. The internship really made me want to pack my bags and move to Hong Kong for a long time. The majority of my downtime was spent exploring the vast jungle of back streets and finding all of the best places to eat. For anybody who is looking to get out of their comfort zone, try Hong Kong! It’s scary at first but ultimately very rewarding.
Trust your instincts
August 29, 2022by: Daniel Croft - IrelandIt was a long, long time in the making, but I’m so glad I was finally able to travel to Hong Kong. To be frank, reading the news that they had began to allow foreign visitors back into Hong Kong felt like a dream. I could hardly believe it myself! It’s only natural to be sceptical about an internship abroad (particularly in Asia, the other side of the world) when we’re talking about handing over money to a group of people you’ve never met before. This is how I felt at the start, but after some very friendly and reassuring Skype calls, I decided to trust my instincts and go with Meiji Internships. This decision really paid off, because I ended up having the internship of a lifetime in a city that demands your attention. I did some insightful work, met some interesting people, and gained worthwhile experience.
A great experience
June 21, 2022by: Ysairys J.My CIEE internship in Barcelona, Spain is a great experience not just academically but also personally. I have learned so much about myself during these months and building connections is so important in life.
The time of my life in Madrid!
January 30, 2022by: Taylor Walsh - United StatesThis program was such a wonderful experience. I stayed in Madrid as one of their first digital nomads where I had the option to work from home while staying in Madrid. I worked with a Madrid marketing agency and sometimes would meet up with my boss to work together or grab coffee. This program was so flexible and fun I was able to travel all around Spain and Europe while adding a perfect internship to my resume. I made some of the best friends I’ve ever had and are still traveling/in contact with them today! The program directors are very involved and make sure you feel welcome in the destination of your choice. They also provide nights out with the other interns of that cohort while introducing new ones each month. I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to be a world traveler without it impacting their career trajectories in a negative way. Thank you @theinterngroup!
Legal learning remotely!
November 22, 2020by: Claire Epps - United StatesFor the past twelve weeks, I have had the incredible opportunity to work in my chosen field in a company half a world away. How is this possible, you ask? Through the Absolute Internship Remote Internship Program. Look it up, seriously. When I was initially accepted into Absolute Internship’s study abroad program, I thought it was too good to be true. Gaining invaluable work experience from a world-renown company while exploring a foreign country? Yes, please! Of course, reality took over, and Covid-19 rocked the world. I was devasted and angry for being deprived of the experience. Lucky for myself and hundreds of other students, Absolute Internship extended a helping hand and introduced their Remote Internship program. My new thought, “I can gain invaluable work experience from a world-renown company while learning in my pajamas? Yes, please!” I applied again, interviewed (again), and soon received an email glowing with the word “Congratulations!”. Once more, I applied and was chosen as an Absolute Internship Remote Scholarship Awardee. Overjoyed at the thought of what was to come, I was quickly placed with and introduced to the law firm that would guide my learning for the next three months. My supervisor at MingDun law firm in Beijing immediately sought to get to know me as a person and as an intern. His warm welcome allowed me to feel as though I was truly part of a community an ocean away. I was soon supplied with several tasks to research and provide notes on for the firm’s use. Because this particular firm specialized in intellectual property law, each issue I researched brought me closer to understanding the nature of and interactions between intellectual property laws worldwide. From reading Trademark Infringement laws in the U.S. to interpreting the legality of the infamous TikTok ban, to conveying my findings, I began to understand the value an internship of this caliber could have in the eventual success of my career. Each time I submitted my research, my supervisor continued the learning process by meeting with me over Zoom and discussing any potential questions or clarifications I might have. This step was instrumental to my learning because it allowed me to speak with an expert in the field (not just over email) on a topic I was interested in pursuing as a career. It also granted me the opportunity to digest the mass amounts of information I was gathering and articulate it concisely. However, I would not have been able to do this effectively if it were not for Absolute Internship’s Absolute Academy. Each member of the Absolute Internship program is given access to this informative platform to supplement their experience. From workshops on emotional intelligence at the workplace to the art of communication to understanding diversity, the Academy has a course on how to excel in any internship. Score! But the learning doesn’t stop there. To make sure you are receiving every bit of internship wisdom possible, the program also offers many workshops designed to enhance soft skills necessary to career success. My favorite workshop was The Art of Communication, in which I utterly embarrassed myself by showcasing my unfortunate lack of communication skills. I applied the lessons I learned from this and similar workshops to my work at MingDun Law Firm. Throughout the previous twelve weeks, I am happy to report that I have grown not only as a researcher and writer but also as a team member, communicator, and critical thinker. I find it hard to believe that I could be just as successful in my career if I had not taken part in the Absolute Internship program. With the guidance of the wonderful Absolute Internship team and of MingDun Law Firm, I can continue down my career path with confidence and professionalism.
I feel like I am really an archaeologist already! Even though it would take me three years more...
November 05, 2020by: Lawrence Collins - United StatesI had the chance to do an internship for archeology and I enjoyed every minute of it! During the internship, I volunteered to do administrative tasks and reports on historical research. We are also encouraged to attend staff and planning meetings. I feel like I am really an archaeologist already! Even though it would take me three years more.
Experience is okay
October 29, 2020by: Nash Roberts - United Statesit was a new knowledge for me to know how to catalog artifacts.. we did a lot of research and digging and interviewing.. the experts we met on the field are very helpful to us.. cared for us like we are babies.. For me, the experience is okay. I would recommend it to my friends.
actually a surprise that I liked it so much
October 29, 2020by: Debbie Turner - United StatesThank you, IGS, for this wonderful experience. It was actually a surprise that I liked it so much. My expectations were low, but you exceeded them a million times! The accommodation is superb, and my co-interns too! We did a lot of research and actual digging, and we had to hike to get to the excavation site. It was not boring at all, because my co-interns are so silly and making jokes the whole time.
Intensive internship
October 14, 2020by: Zachary Smith - United KingdomAll I can attest to is that this internship is intensive. We experienced all forms of research - from the actual dig to reading into libraries to interviewing residents near the area. Archeology is my current Minor in college, and these exhaustive works excite me much. Some people see archeological digging as “dirty” but no, it’s not! Discovering an artifact and studying the ancient human past through material remains are so much more interesting than lying around and being “clean”.
Quito, Ecuador was awesome!
October 14, 2020by: Jerry Burke - United StatesIt was my first time to go out of my country, and it was remarkable. In my IGS internship, we worked with well-known university researchers, and are assigned both field and laboratory works. I was personally delegated to conduct research on historical events and collect the oral histories of the area. I used to read in my textbooks that the oldest traces of human presence in Quito were excavated by my favourite American archaeologist Robert Bell in 1960, on the slopes of the Ilaló volcano. I can’t believe I’m doing the same things he used to do, and on the same place!
Berlin for the win!
September 24, 2020by: Jacquie T. - United StatesThis program was amazing! The staff and faculty are always willing to help with anything. Whether it's about your internship placement or advice for fun adventures in the city, the staff is there for you. This program has great opportunities to grow as a student and a professional in your field. The field trips and activities in this program allowed us to take our learning outside and explore a new culture. I couldn't recommend this program enough!
