Koala Sanctuary Internship in Australia

A short drive to downtown Brisbane lies one of the world's premier koala sanctuaries. There, interns will have an up close and personal glance at one of the world's most endearing animals. Koalas have a range of behaviors that scientists are still striving to understand, and interns will have the opportunity to come to their own conclusions about their way of life. With 130 koalas and an equal number of kangaroos, the sanctuary is run as a wildlife park that allows visitors a more personal interaction with these animals than they will get in the wild. This internship is a great opportunity to interact with wild animals in a controlled environment that takes into consideration the animals' needs and welfare. Koalas roam free on the park grounds and interns have the opportunity to view them in a semi-natural habitat. The scenic river location also provides a glimpse into some of the native flora and fauna found in the area. Interns can assist in catfish feeding and in maintaining the center's snake collection.

API: Experience Brisbane, Australia (Scholarships Available)

Australia has one of the top systems of higher education in the world (23 of its universities are in the world's top 500) and is the 4th largest recipient of international students (behind the U.S., the U.K., and France). The country is known for its diverse and beautiful landscapes that span the largest island in the world (or the smallest continent, depending on your point of view). Five of Australia’s cities are ranked among the world’s top 30 for students to live in (Mercer), and cities such as Brisbane and Sydney are known for their eclectic and international makeup. Come and experience this amazing land through an API study or intern abroad program in Australia! Brisbane serves as the third most visited city in Australia behind Sydney and Melbourne. The city features popular tourist spots like The Wheel of Brisbane, City Botanic Gardens, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, the Parliament of Queensland, and the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. But don't worry there is so much more for students to explore and learn more about! Brisbane hosts around 95,000 international students annually, and the international education programs contribute a good portion of revenue to Brisbane's economy.

Too cute for my life

Baby koalas are too cute! Seminars are given before we started our work, which came in handy when we are presented with curious visitors. Koalas are very sleepy animals too! I learned a lot of interesting trivias abt them hehe. However, their numbers are on the decline, so I made it my personal advocacy to do whatever I can to help their specie.
