Seamester: Mediterranean to Caribbean - 90 Days

Why limit yourself to just one ocean, country, or continent? Choose this transatlantic journey spanning over 6,500 miles and offering the best of land and sea. Sail the Mediterranean, cross the Atlantic, and cruise the Caribbean against the backdrop of sunrise, sunset, and moonlight. Gaze at the Pantheon and Coliseum in Rome. Tour the ancient fortress town of Bonifacio—a mountain in the sea with over 1,700 summits and water so clear that visibility is perfect even at 50 feet below. Ride camels among the sand dunes on the beaches of Agadir and wander in the courtyard of the King's Palace in Casablanca. Conquer our longest sailing passage and experience deep blue freedom in every direction as you cross the Atlantic with pilot whales, bioluminescent plankton, and flying fish. Loggerhead Turtle Nesting Season – Volunteer Program 2026

Cabo Verde is the world’s second-most-important nesting site for the Loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta). This species plays a vital role in marine ecosystems by maintaining healthy seagrass beds and coral reefs, which support diverse marine life. However, years of illegal hunting and human pressure brought the species to the brink of extinction, and in 2007, it was predicted that the Cabo Verde population could disappear by 2015 without immediate action. As a volunteer, your main role is to patrol the beaches at night to deter hunters and ensure that turtles can nest safely. You will also help with essential fieldwork such as tagging and measuring turtles, relocating nests when necessary, monitoring incubation, and assisting with the safe release of hatchlings. Through this experience, you will learn key conservation techniques and directly contribute to the protection and recovery of this endangered species.

Argo changed my life

Program: Seamester: Mediterranean to Caribbean - 90 Days

My Seamester trip changed my life. I was shocked to discover how much I love to sail, explore new places, and live on the ocean! I was really struggling to find something I’m passionate about, but since leaving Argo, I am actively chasing opportunities to work on a boat and continue living on the ocean. I met some of the best friends I’ll ever have, and I cannot imagine a world in which I never met them. The staff were so helpful, supportive, and incredibly caring. I immediately felt like we were all one large family. I cannot recommend this enough. There are hard parts, that’s for sure. I definitely had moments where I was just so exhausted, homesick, nervous, and stressed out. But the lessons I learned in those situations shaped me into a more confident and adventurous person, and I am so grateful for that. If you’re considering going on a Seamester trip, GO!! I highly recommend the Mediterranean to Caribbean trip, the places we went were remarkable and I wish I could go back in time and do it all over again. Seriously, it is worth every penny. I will always remember my trip and if someone else has even half the experience I had, I know they will absolutely love it.
