This Gapforce program is an action-packed, six-week tour combining travel and adventure with volunteering on Australia's famed East Coast. Your journey begins in the awesome city of Sydney before heading north to Brisbane via the legendary Byron Bay. You will spend two weeks volunteering on an environmental conservation project, a great way to give back to this amazing country, before continuing north into Queensland. Sailing on the Whitsunday islands, 4x4 jeep rides on Fraser Island, and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef are just some of the highlights. Your epic adventure ends with a week in Cape Tribulation, a stunning paradise where the reef meets the rainforest.

IVHQ volunteers participating on the Coastline Conservation and Education project have the opportunity to contribute to a long-term goal of keeping the coastlines and beaches in New Zealand clean and beautiful. Volunteers will present educational seminars in local schools and businesses about the importance of keeping coasts clean. Volunteers will also be active in beach clean ups and the scientific analysis of litter and debris found during the clean-up activities. With low volunteer program fees and top rated volunteer projects, you will not find a more affordable and trustworthy volunteer travel organization in New Zealand.

Volunteer at one of the largest & most successful wildlife rehabilitation/release centers in Africa! Participants on this project work with a range of animals; anything from chimpanzees to baby cheetahs. Experience beautiful Zimbabwe all while making a positive impact on the delicate African ecosystem. The orphanage is a haven for animals with little hope for survival in the wild; these are creatures that have been orphaned, abandoned, injured, born in captivity, or brought up unsuccessfully as pets. Additionally, it is home to an increasing number of animals confiscated from illegal wildlife traffickers. The orphanage has been featured in countless documentaries & is now world renowned for its pioneering work as well as famed as one of Africa's largest & most successful wildlife rehabilitation/release centers. Eligibility: - Good level of English - Vaccinations (please consult doctor) - Age 18+ (exceptions for 17 year olds if there are more than 2 volunteers wanting to come)

The Volunteer Adventure program combines 1 week of volunteering with 6 days of travel and exploration in Costa Rica. This is truly the ultimate West Coast teenage road trip! The program begins in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe in Northern California. Next, it takes you into the American Southwest, exploring the majesty of dramatically changing scenery with a stay in Vegas. The grand finale is in beautiful Scottsdale. A dhow is a traditional Arab sailing vessel with one or more lateen sails. It is primarily used to carry items along the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula, Pakistan, India, and East Africa. The term "dhow" does not refer to just one type of ship but to a whole family of vessels, ranging from small boats with just one mast to cargo ships carrying over 200 tons. The Zanzibari dhow builders are well-known throughout the Indian Ocean for their amazing work. They build traditional dhows upon order and, depending on the size of the ship, take between two weeks and four months to construct. In Nungwi/Zanzibar, you have the unique opportunity to take part in the construction of a dhow and to learn everything about traditional dhow-building. An experienced dhow-building master who has learned his skills from his father (the family has been building dhows for generations) will give you 2 hours of dhow-building lessons per day. During the other hours of the day, you can observe the craftsmen and assist them.
