CIEE Semester Internships CIEE Semester Global Internships are 9 to 13-credit, 12-week programs that feature a full-time internship (approximately 30 hours weekly), a seminar, and an optional 3 to 4-credit academic course online. Molise Italian Studies Faculty-Led programs are not traditional study abroad trips. We partner with faculty to develop a framework of inquiry and reflection, as well as prepare specific background and culture-specific content to set the stage for effective community-based learning. Students and faculty alike will take part in an authentic Italian experience customized for any field of study, all centered around Global Intercultural Citizenship education. Teach your course content as you discover an unknown Italy with your students, while sampling unparalleled local foods and learning to bridge cultural differences. Plus, explore Molise’s beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, and ancient hillside villages through a variety of cultural, historical, and outdoor activities, as well as customized hands-on experiences. What does it take to restore nature in landscapes shaped by centuries of agriculture? In this immersive program based in rural Central Italy, students explore how ecosystems can recover in working agricultural lands, from olive groves and vineyards to rewilding mountain pastures. Fieldwork, excursions, and community engagement offer a firsthand look at the ecological and cultural dimensions of restoration, as well as the conflicts and cooperation between wildlife conservation and food production. Students learn how restoration is unfolding on the ground, navigating both EU-level policy and the lived realities of farmers, rangers, and rewilding advocates.

Spend your semester exploring the environmental and sustainability issues that shape Sicily and the surrounding Mediterranean region. Engage with local communities through field visits and excursions connected to your coursework. A project-based learning course allows you to put your ideas into action by partnering with a local organization working in the field of sustainability. Live in furnished apartments with shared bedrooms with other students on the program. Generally apartments are 2-4 bedrooms, with 4-8 students per apartment. Meals are not included, but kitchen supplies are available for you to look your own meals. Full day excursions around the island of Sicily will be included in the program fee.
