CIEE Semester Internships CIEE Semester Global Internships are 9 to 13-credit, 12-week programs that feature a full-time internship (approximately 30 hours weekly), a seminar, and an optional 3 to 4-credit academic course online. CIEE Semester Intern and Study Abroad Programs are 12 to 14-credit, 12-week programs that feature a part-time internship​ (approximately 20 hours weekly), a seminar, and two academic courses.

Participants are immersed in the Italian language and culture during a semester, academic year, or summer program. Courses include Anthropology, Art History, Cinema, Medieval History, Sociolinguistics, History of Italian Cooking, Business, and Creative Arts. Students live with local host families while making a difference in the local community through service-learning opportunities. They participate in a series of activities and excursions during the semester or summer term. Florence is an ideal place to learn, with many paintings and artworks waiting to be restored. You will have a chance to work with authentic paintings including those from the 15th century, in a laboratory of professional art restaurateurs. The program emphasizes the importance of understanding and respecting the aesthetic and cultural significance of artifacts requiring restoration. Instructors: Prof. Paola has specialized in the restoration of paintings and polychrome works since 1987 and has taught at the Institute for Art and Restoration in Florence dealing with the ongoing restoration of pictorial and Master in Conservation and Restoration. In addition to Italy, she taught in 2003 in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo, and in 2011 in Valencia. Prof. Natalia specialized in the Photographic survey of Restoration; diagnostics for the preservation of artworks. We offer both long-term (One-Year, Semester, and Master's) and short-term (Short, and Summer Intensive) programs. During the summer (from May until the end of September), we offer a special program called "Summer Intensive Course" (from 2 to 12 weeks) which includes housing, meals and extracurricular activities and services.
