Prepare to Study Abroad

Understand the benefits

Studying aviation or aerospace abroad helps you build practical skills while seeing how things work in different parts of the world.

  • Learn in a new environment. Get used to different systems, equipment, and ways of thinking that can push your skills further.
  • Grow your confidence. Living abroad while studying something technical builds independence fast—in and out of the classroom.
  • Stand out later. Having international experience shows future employers that you’ve seen more than one way of doing things.

Things to know

Aviation programs abroad come with a few specific details to sort out early, especially when it comes to requirements and gear.

  • Licensing rules - Make sure the flight hours or certifications you earn will count toward your goals at home.
  • Equipment access - Some programs include simulators or lab time, but not all—check what’s actually offered.
  • Weather impact - Bad weather can delay flying, so location really matters if you’re training in the air.
  • Costs upfront - Aviation training can come with extra fees for materials or hours—ask early so there are no surprises.
