The Real Uganda's volunteers assist our partners with a variety of empowering community-based activities. Volunteers split their time between these locally requested interventions: Public health and clinical work: Volunteers work in rural clinics providing testing, treatment, counseling services, and prevention education. Nutrition, vegetable gardening, and community sanitation programs are also ongoing. We aim to support rural public health in Uganda. Teaching and childcare: Volunteers work in rural classrooms, choosing what ages and topics to teach. Art and sport are the most popular. Traditional teaching in Uganda is rote learning and memorization. We aim to encourage teamwork, fun, creativity, literacy, and general knowledge in primary schools. Organic farming: Volunteers work alongside women and community members to maintain gardens. Depending on the season, volunteers prepare the soil, plant seeds, spread mulch, weed, harvest, and chase birds and other pests. Learn from Ugandan farmers, and share your ideas as well. We aim to teach efficient land use, organic pest control, and nutrition.

International Medical Aid (IMA) is a not-for-profit organization that provides travel abroad internships for nutrition and dietetics students. Undergrad and graduate-level students, as well as licensed practitioners, are invited to go to countries in East Africa, South America, and the Caribbean to provide medical care to underserved populations. Interns shadow medical professionals who treat patients requiring medical attention. Underserved communities in remote locations generally lack funds and the basic tools to maintain healthy citizens. IMA strives to change that. In addition to shadowing and volunteering, interns are encouraged to take in the beauty and culture of the country. IMA works directly with local communities to provide these trips to students. IMA bases its programs on integrity, respect, commitment, and imagination and works tirelessly to provide a safe and mutually beneficial experience for students and licensed providers alike.

Help save lives in Uganda by volunteering with our nonprofit organization. We aim to reach marginalized children and youths such as orphans, school dropouts, refugees, and members of poverty-stricken families. Today, we bring together over 300 children from the outskirt districts of Kampala, Mubende, Kasanda, Wakiso, Luwero, and West Nile regions to provide them with necessities: education, shelter, food, clothing, and health care. Share your time, skills, and talents to make a tremendous difference in the lives of underprivileged children and youths. This volunteer program empowers young Ugandans through education. Your role involves teaching nursery and primary classes, assisting children with their daily tasks, providing administration support, fundraising, writing, and carrying out activities in your areas of interest. We offer volunteers comfortable accommodation, tasty local food, assistance, and an introduction to the local culture.

Ssamba Foundation runs an organic farm just 40 minutes drive south of Mukono, located close to the beautiful Lake Victoria and surrounded by beautiful nature. This is a cool place to hang out with the locals as you enjoy organically grown foods and bask in the beauty of nature. Ssamba Foundation strives to improve the livelihoods of this rural community through a farm project focused on improved agriculture practices and environmentally sustainable technologies. We also use the farm to teach children simple methods like growing organic fruits and vegetables: tomatoes, maize, beans, cabbage, onions, carrots, pumpkins, watermelons, mangoes, and passion fruit. The organization invests in agriculture because it is the backbone of Uganda's economy, with over 80 percent of the population directly or indirectly involved in various aspects of this sector. Volunteer work at the farm varies from day to day and season to season. This is the perfect opportunity to be of service while gaining valuable life experiences in farming in Uganda. Participants are essential in all operations at this beautiful organic farm project.

The Bugembe Initiative for Development (BID) is an action-oriented, community-based organization dedicated to empowering women, youth, and vulnerable individuals. Formed in 2011 with its base in Bugembe, Jinja District, the Bugembe Initiative for Development (BID) is an action-oriented, community-based organization dedicated to empowering women, youth, and vulnerable individuals through a holistic, socio-economic approach. Diseases, literacy, unemployment, poverty, ignorance, wars, and natural disasters in Uganda have resulted in situations of vulnerability and moral degeneration. The most affected people are the children, women, youth, and the elderly. Many current community initiatives fall short in coping with the ever-increasing number of poor women, needy youths, and vulnerable children. BID Uganda was born out of the need to reach out to these neglected, forgotten, HIV/AIDS sufferers, orphans, abandoned street children, homeless, and those in extreme poverty within the communities and our society who are hurting in life. At BID Uganda, we are always looking for volunteers to help us administer our programmes and get involved in the community.
