Great trip!
March 19, 2026by: Matthew E Messier - United StatesHad a great trip to Italy. I met a ton of people from all over the world and we worked together educating about issues around refugees. We worked during the day and had fun at night and on the weekends. I am still in touch with many of the people I volunteered with. Thanks

Teaching english and immersing myself in the local culture.
January 27, 2025by: Nelia ORDINANA SALVADORMy experience as an English volunteer in Thailand was incredible. Even though I was a minor, I felt completely safe because the team picked me up at the airport. Everyone on the team was extremely kind, and I had the chance to immerse myself in the local culture and learn from the people there. The highlight was definitely teaching English. I also made friends from all over the world—USA, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. I highly recommend GoEco; this is my second year volunteering with them, and I hope to continue next year!

By being aware of the pros and cons, doing thorough research, and choosing a reputable organization, volunteers can have a safe, rewarding, and life-changing experience abroad.

Make this experience worthwhile for our family
April 06, 2024by: AnneliesLocal organisation Green Lion did everything possible to make this experience worthwhile for our family. I also loved the fact they let us pick our own accommodation, seen that their own accommodation is not for a family with children. This way our children could calm down in the afternoons, away from all the "work talks".
Truly authentic volunteer experience
March 27, 2024by: Jeremy Ebersole - United StatesMy experience with VFP way back in 2009 was remarkable. Living in Germany and building a labyrinth at a World Heritage Site as the only native English speaker in my group was a truly immersive experience. I didn't feel like I was coming into a place from the outside so much as I felt part of a community. Our group really bonded and while we had a primary task, many of the day to day decisions were made by the group, one of my first experiences with really being responsible for myself.

Made a real difference for the kids
December 12, 2023by: JamesThe most memorable experience for me has been the placement. The English I have been able to teach in th short two weeks I've been in Hua Hin have made a real difference for the kids I've had the pleasure of working with. If I could extend my placement, I certainly would.

Why join Carpe Diem
November 20, 2022by: Gabrielle Bennett - United StatesProgram: Southeast Asia Semester | Carpe Diem Education Gap Year
As some who needed a year off between high school and college, Carpe Diem was the best fit for me. As part of the Southeast Asia gap year program one of my favorite things was our partners and host families. At Punpun, a greenhouse building and seed saving organization, I’ve never felt more exhausted, but loved. The people there were so kind and caring as well as invested in educational and experiential learning. While there, I met people with similar interests who showed me that I can do exactly what I want to do in life.
Great gap year semester after high school!
November 20, 2022by: Leora Wasserman - United StatesProgram: Southeast Asia Semester | Carpe Diem Education Gap Year
If you’re thinking of taking a gap year, this gap year semester is amazing! I really got to develop as a person and had incredible experiences (and food). I also met really kind and down to earth people on this program, made such great memories, and friends! You really get the best of both worlds on this program - rugged nature adventures and city life activities, which I didn’t know about prior. My favorite part of the trip was going to IWP, which was a Buddhist feminist retreat. 10/10, would recommend this trip.

Best choice I made
November 19, 2022by: Peyton Molacek - United StatesProgram: Southeast Asia Semester | Carpe Diem Education Gap Year
Carpe Diem is 100% an experience I would recommend to others. The mix of volunteer service work with explorative more touristy activities was excellent. A highlight of my trip was our experience at Pun Pun farm in northern Thailand. We spent a day helping build mud bricks for a community member’s house. The work was tiring but extremely rewarding. Tiring but very rewarding sums up the whole of my semester perfectly. I now have built great friendships with my fellow group members and wonderfully relationships with our various host families and organizations.
Do not hesitate! Best experience of my life!
March 16, 2021by: Silvia S. Terratiz - SpainProgram: Volunteer World: Best Volunteer Abroad Programs Worldwide
I probably had one of the best experiences of my life in Natuwa for a month, feeding the many animals that live there, taking care of them, discovering a different way of life than mine, more minimalist and peaceful. Rodolfo is an extremely understanding man who cares about the well-being of his voluntarios. We had the chance to do several extra activities outside the centre, such as snorkeling near to Isla Tortuga, or swimming at night with bioluminescent planktons, which were dazzling. The workteam is really friendly and allows you to feel integrated quickly and easily. However, you have to expect to work hard sometimes, for example planting trees, doing work to maintain the infrastructure, but this is only a part of the day. outside the centre
The most beautiful and gratifying month of my life
February 02, 2020by: Helene Gagnon - CanadaI am very interested in social causes and I wanted to go abroad and give some of my time to a good cause. Meiji Internships found me a very fulfilling internship in an NGO for children's care. I spend one month to help disadvantaged children to re-enter society and to have access to education. My self from before this internship and my self from now are like two different persons. I am proud of the progress the children did in English during my classes, but I am also proud of myself growing as a Human and becoming more aware of the social problems and how to help people. I had some tough times when I realized that everyone cannot be helped on this Earth (because yes, sometimes the situation is way too complicated and you have to let go to focus on the others), but I also thought that we have to do what we can do to create a better world!
this program was so rewarding
February 01, 2020by: Kelsey O'ConnorBeing part of this program was so rewarding. Even though my stay was very short, it was nice to be able to give a hand to people in need. The GoEco team was extremely accommodating, insightful, and made me feel very comfortable.
Saving animals in Thailand
January 15, 2020by: Amber Dixon - United StatesI went to Bangkok in October and November of last year. Now, if I could do it again, I think I would not go in October because of the rain. From what I've heard, the best time to go is December, January, and February, when the weather is dry. But even if it was raining often I enjoyed my experience a lot! Thailand is a gorgeous country, and I had the time of my life. I interned in an NGO which was rehabilitating animals abused by the tourism industry, so I felt I was contributing to a good cause! With my English skills, I helped them raise awareness about animal abuse and promote the association. I gained a lot of experience while saving animals, so it was the perfect internship for me!! Thanks to this adventure, I'm a different person now. I feel stronger and unstoppable!
