Volunteers will support women in learning vital skills, from sewing to entrepreneurship, while also helping improve their business and financial literacy. You'll engage in hands-on activities, such as assisting with sewing, taking photos of products, and contributing creative ideas to enhance designs. Work project types vary by country but may include environmental and wildlife conservation, historic preservation, educational and language learning, archaeology, organic farming, and arts and festivals. We also have social services projects, which could involve working with children, the elderly, or refugees. Projects are designed to combine service with recreational activities and cultural exchange – whether by visiting local beaches, learning local dances, meeting local officials, or volunteering with residents at the place you’re visiting. Experience an affordable and impactful volunteer program in Laikipia, Kenya, based in Nanyuki at the foot of the breathtaking Mount Kenya. This unique location offers a perfect blend of meaningful community work and adventure, with close access to Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Samburu National Reserve. Volunteers stay in a secure, scenic residence facing Mount Kenya, with comfortable shared accommodation, reliable internet, a fully equipped kitchen, and outdoor gazebos, hammocks, and bonfire spaces for relaxation and connection. The program focuses on community development, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange, working with Maasai, Samburu, Yaaku, and Il Ngwesi communities. A transition program includes basic Kiswahili learning and immersive cultural experiences. Additional volunteer work including children’s homes and community initiatives, are available based on volunteer interests. A program fee covers accommodation, meals, security, and essential support. Optional safaris and coastal tours are arranged separately, and volunteers may independently explore further placements after the program in Kenya or Outside Kenya.
