Experience an affordable and impactful volunteer program in Laikipia, Kenya, based in Nanyuki at the foot of the breathtaking Mount Kenya. This unique location offers a perfect blend of meaningful community work and adventure, with close access to Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Samburu National Reserve. Volunteers stay in a secure, scenic residence facing Mount Kenya, with comfortable shared accommodation, reliable internet, a fully equipped kitchen, and outdoor gazebos, hammocks, and bonfire spaces for relaxation and connection. The program focuses on community development, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange, working with Maasai, Samburu, Yaaku, and Il Ngwesi communities. A transition program includes basic Kiswahili learning and immersive cultural experiences. Who is eligible to join this program?
Volunteers 18 years and above from all nationalities with basic English comprehension are welcome.
Where is the program based?
Nanyuki, Laikipia County, at the foot of Mount Kenya, just 1 km from Nanyuki town and 500 meters from the main tarmac road, offering a peaceful yet accessible environment.
What is included in the program fee?
Accommodation, meals, local transport during program activities, and included excursions, airport pickup/drop-off, orientation, and in-house activities.
- Optional safaris and tours outside the program are arranged separately.
- Volunteers organize their own travel visas.
- Personal travel and health insurance are required. Recommended vaccinations include Tetanus, Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever.
How long is the program?
- Program durations are flexible, up to 8 weeks (2 months).
- Please pack comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes, personal toiletries, medications, and warm clothing for Nanyuki’s cooler climate. A detailed packing list is provided upon registration.

Volunteers engage in community activities such as supporting, Community cooking, tree planting, Maasai women and widows' entrepreneur activities, e.g., bead making, children’s homes, assisting schools, youth and exchange programs, and mentorship, and cultural programs.
