Indonesia - Bali Sea Turtle Rescue

Did you know that Green Sea Turtles are considered an endangered species? Volunteer in Bali and see how you can help save these magnificent creatures. This project aims to rescue and rehabilitate sea turtles that are gathered from local fishermen. You will be an integral member of a team that is caring for injured turtles and helping them to return to their natural environment. You will also gather data that will then be sent to a worldwide marine conservation organization. This adventure will also connect volunteers to the local Balinese community where you will educate children and teach them the importance of turtle conservation. This is a rewarding experience for anyone who wants to make a difference in marine life and help take care of injured turtles until you release them back into the wild. You are also teaching locals the importance of these precious sea turtles and encouraging them to care for their environment.

Education Support - Teach English, Bali

Teaching volunteers should look no further than this wonderful program situated in the Tabanan region on the west coast of Bali. This breathtaking region features an abundance of terraced rice paddies, black sand beaches with fantastic surf, and picturesque mountains. Locals here support themselves mainly through farming and tourism, where a sound knowledge of the English language is essential for employment opportunities. This teaching program supports these wonderful but impoverished families, enabling their children to learn the skills required to enhance their futures better. Volunteers will work to provide free English language lessons to underprivileged children at a non-profit learning center. Around 60 children, ranging in age from 5 to 18 years, attend the classes. This project is a great way for international volunteers to learn more about the Balinese people and culture, teach those in need, and explore this magical location.

Kindergarten Teaching in Ubud, Bali

Volunteer in local kindergartens in beautiful Ubud. Help and encourage children to learn and grow creatively as you teach them language, communication, and other primary skills. Placements are available in over 15 kindergarten schools. Teach children basic English in an informal and fun way! You may also volunteer at a center that offers free kindergarten education to several 4 and 5-year-old kids from poor villages. These local children are warm and affectionate and would rather spend time playing than learning! Kindergarten teaching in Bali, like throughout the world, is informal and children will want to play with you more than be ‘taught’ formally. However, just by getting them enthused about coming to school and teaching them some basic English phrases, such as simple greetings, you may well have sown the seeds of a lifelong learning habit and doing a great, enjoyable job in the process. The children will all be excited to see you and exceptionally welcoming. This is due partly to the natural and genuine friendliness of the Balinese and partly to the fact that you will be one of a few foreigners they have met!

A transformational journey

December 24, 2025by: Amalia Tofan - RomaniaProgram: Indonesia - Bali Sea Turtle Rescue

I absolutely loved my time volunteering here. It was way more than learning about sea turtle conservation or marine life. The trip was a full immersion in the Indonesian culture where I got to meet locals, other volunteers from all over the world and make friendships to cherish for many years. Beyond grateful for the experience. I recommend this to anyone who wishes to travel in a lively place and get to see the real Indonesia, not just the IG hotspots. I have also done the introduction week which is a great way to get onboarded and learn more about this land’s customs and traditions.
