The Real Uganda's volunteers assist our partners with a variety of empowering community-based activities. Volunteers split their time between these locally requested interventions: Public health and clinical work: Volunteers work in rural clinics providing testing, treatment, counseling services, and prevention education. Nutrition, vegetable gardening, and community sanitation programs are also ongoing. We aim to support rural public health in Uganda. Teaching and childcare: Volunteers work in rural classrooms, choosing what ages and topics to teach. Art and sport are the most popular. Traditional teaching in Uganda is rote learning and memorization. We aim to encourage teamwork, fun, creativity, literacy, and general knowledge in primary schools. Organic farming: Volunteers work alongside women and community members to maintain gardens. Depending on the season, volunteers prepare the soil, plant seeds, spread mulch, weed, harvest, and chase birds and other pests. Learn from Ugandan farmers, and share your ideas as well. Teach at local community schools in Knysna, South Africa, in this volunteer project. Support the development of children by teaching them English, Natural Science, Maths, Dance, Music, Sports, and other subjects. You could also assist with reading groups in school libraries or special needs activities. We have placements at township schools, which have large classes and basic facilities. Therefore, the teachers greatly appreciate any help in managing a huge number of students. Your ideas are always welcome to improve a variety of areas: foundation phase little ones, Physical Education, English teaching, Mathematics, and others. This project is available during South African school terms, between mid-January to early December. Start days are from Monday to Friday, and the minimum length of stay is two weeks. A longer duration is subject to visa requirements. We welcome volunteers from 17 years old.

Volunteering in Mukono offers a unique opportunity to give back to rural communities through participation in grassroots projects. On top of this, you will gain an insight into the daily living conditions of locals. As a volunteer, you will experience traditional Ugandan life and take part in daily activities. Ssamba Foundation operates in rural communities where dirt roads turn to sticky mud when it rains and into dust when the climate is dry. The main transport is Boda- Boda bikes, which share the road with animals and bicycles. Like a big part of Uganda, these communities have households struggling to meet their basic needs; much less putting their kids in school. Their main sources of income include small-scale animal rearing, selling fruits and vegetables, brickmaking, and other manual labor jobs.

PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) is focusing on general health , sanitation and hygiene awareness promotion, social security and economic empowerment. PLANE is seeking compassionate medical doctors, nurses , medical interns and social workers to support us in our Health and Sanitation program. The volunteers will be promoting health education is schools, communities and at MK International Hospital Njara Hill ,Fort Portal City. Doctors will also be attached to Mugusu Health Center III conducting simple surgeries and treatment. The health workers will again be moving on radios (Voice of Tooro 101FM, Life Fm 93.8FM) to educate the people on some disease , prevention and control.In the communities, they will be conducting medical camps and creating awareness on diseases such as cervical cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes, prostate cancer, HIV/AIDS, issues of malnutrition and stunting, family planning and having manageable families, maternal health etc. Promotion of Reproductive Health activities in schools and communities shall be campaigned by the drama group that pulls audience , educates and entertains it as they disseminate information. This will be unforgettably experience.

Spend four weeks over the summer making a difference at a stunning coastal location near Diani, Kenya. Participants live and work in the communities in and around Msambweni, receiving daily support from the Africa & Asia Venture (AV) project leader. People and Places is part of an innovative and well-respected project that aims to provide children and young adults from rural areas with access to a world-class education through digital technology. In this age, across the developed world, digital technology is fast becoming one of the main tools for learning. But in rural Africa, with its overcrowded classrooms, lack of teachers, and few resources, this is an impossible dream. Our partner learning center aims to address this widening gap between the haves and have-nots by giving children and young adults in South Africa access to the digital world and the knowledge of how to navigate it.
