Natural Sciences Study Abroad Programs in Netherlands

Here, you can participate in a professional academic research project and learn the language and culture of the Netherlands. Leiden University is one of 11 leading research institutions in Europe participating in the Research Study Abroad Program. Research opportunities exist in many fields, including liberal arts/humanities, social sciences, biological sciences, physical sciences, and engineering. Gaining research experience at an undergraduate level will give you invaluable academic experience and set you apart from other applicants when applying to graduate school or research-related work. You will be an active member of the research team! Participants can choose from one of the two program options (each worth 30 ECTS, which is equivalent to 15 U.S. semester credits).

Explore cutting-edge scientific and health challenges through a European lens in this study abroad program at Maastricht University (UM). It starts with a two-week introduction, which includes CES services, the Dutch Discovery Trip, a tour of Maastricht and the surrounding area, UM orientation, a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) workshop, a cultural awareness lecture, and integration into Dutch student life. Maastricht, situated at the intersection of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, offers an ideal environment to study scientific and health challenges in a European context. The Science and Health in Europe programme explores key issues such as personalised medicine, pandemic preparedness, climate change, AI ethics, and sustainability.
